Before the holidoys the Key Club sponsored o Christmas donee ond the evening was on overall success As school begon ogom after Christmas break, the basketball ream enjoyed o winning seoson of 14-12 ond took home the first ploce trophy of the Boorheel Conference Tournament. On Feb. 20. the Yearbook sponsored their onnuol Cotton Blossom donee 'In My Dreams , wos selected os the theme ond Riro Smith wos crowned Queen She reigned over the festivities in glory, os she ond everyone there mode it o night to remember. To go ond win or Store Competition wos the baseball boys' moin objective. The teom come close ond enjoyed another successful seoson The Tiger boseboll ream ploced second in District competition. During Springtime everyone begon to onricipote Prom The rheme selected for the 1987-86 Junior-Senior Prom wos 'We ve Only Just Begun' The decororions. theme ond food were decided on by many different committees rhor worked hord to moke the Prom one of the best ever - ond for the Seniors it wos. As their lost Prom passed, the doss of 88 realized thor their four-yeor moin objective wos fost opprooching On Moy 26. Groduo-tion wos held ond on that evening oil groduotes occepred their diplomos with pride. They hod finolly reoched their finol gool ond knew thot now there wos no turning bock The 87-88 yeor proved to be difficult with the new rests ond requirements but with o lot of effort ond work, most oil of the moin objectives that were strived for by the student body of CHS were reoched. Junior John Dean finds rime to give o worm embrace to Senior Lone Southern. Freshman Emily McKaskle finds something to look ot while Meg Sommerkamp poses with o nice look for the camera. The Juniors once again ron rhe concession srond ro accomplish rheir goal of purring on rhe besr Prom possible. They were also excired ro order ond receive rheir senior rings. The Sophomore's hod o new challenge in rhe 88 year. They ore rhe second closs required ro roke rhe Missouri Masrery Achievemenr Tesr (MMAT). Besides rhor, rhe Sophomores were excired ro hove srepped off rhe borrom rung of rhe ladder of educa-rion in high school. The IMS - Insrrucrional Manoge-menr Sysrem - wos ushered in ond srudenrs of CHS were required ro roke ond poss rhese resrs ro show mosrery of rhe closs curriculum. The year began wirh o Bock ro School donee, where everyone could ger ro know each orher again ofrer rhe long summer monrhs. Soon ofrer. foorboll season began ond rhe moin objecrive of rhe foorboll ream wos ro go ro srore comperirion. Everyone cele-brored rhe Homecoming week, os rhe Juniors won rhe spirir week comperirion. Ar rhe end of rhe week on Friday Ocrober 9rh during holfrime, Joy Dunovonr wos crowned queen ond rhe Tigers finished off Ken-nerr wirh o 407 win. The foorboll ream fell shorr of rheir objecrive by losing ro rhe Berkeley Bulldogs during rhe quorrer finals, bur, overall, rhe season wos successful.
