YOU KNO W YOU'RE A . . . When you’ve goi it and can flaunt it! Coach Welch From giving lectures in the class to sipping coffee with students after school, CHS faculty lived their job. Perhaps through the experience of sponsoring a dance that almost didn't get finished, maybe through putting a major drama production together without much to work with and knowing you have to raise a certain amount in order to come out all right, maybe the experience of putting the school annual together, hoping and praying all along that nothing goes wrong at the printers' office or with the student's layouts, perhaps by working for months with a group of boys and shaping them into an 8-2 winning team, perhaps by experience we have learned patience and understanding, and how to demonstrate it to one another - teacher to student, student to teacher. 20

FACULTY From Webster's Collegiate Dictionary: Teacher - te-cher n., 1. one that teaches; esp.: one whose occupation is to instruct. Some would tend to limit their understanding of words, such as teacher, to such affixiated ideas as dictionary definitions. As these people go on their passive journeys through their lives, things they come in contact with are fit into their own squares” of knowledge or comprehension. Everything is either one way or the other, there is no in between. It is either good or bad, black or white, and trying to persuade these people to see the gray sometimes infuriates them and triggers an emotional anger coming from insecurity. As Norman O. Bown so aptly put it: ''Literal meanings are packaged commodities for passive consumers. Maybe with a little help from each other we can all begin to try to understand each other better. Let's all try to see the gray. 22
