usil: Scare Under the able leadership of Mr. Kenneth R. Fidler, the band, mixed chorus, and girls' glee club progressed far this year and the school, as well as the public, benefited from their many appearances. During the busy year's schedule, the band gave unusual shows at the home football games, played at all basketball games, led all pep rallies and parades, par- ticipated in the merchants' Christmas parade, J. C. Day, Red Cross Drive, the National Cotton Picking parade at Blytheville, and the Christmas parade at Jonesboro fHere they tied for first place as the best bandjg presented a concert for the Red Cross Benefit, and played for Easter Sunrise Service. The mixed chorus, while not quite as active as the band, gave a Christmas assembly, attended the Quad-State Music Festival at Murray, Kentucky, and the Southeast Missouri District Meet, helped in the commencement program, and performed for several church and civic groups. Both the chorus and girls' glee club participated in the operetta, Rio Rico. As a fitting conclusion to the year's work, all three music groups joined in present- ing an outstanding concert during National Music Week.
