Armando Vera is this year's 1980 Raider. He is a friendly, outgoing person with many athletic abilities. Upon entering Caruthers High School, he became a junior varsity football co-captain and later played on the junior varsity wrestling and baseball teams. He was also chosen freshmen Christmas king candidate. He played on the varsity football, wrestling, and baseball teams during his sophomore year. During his junior year, Armando was again in the varsity line-up in football and baseball and was co- captain of the wrestling team. Besides being an active athlete, he served in elective othces as Lettermen's Club sergeant-at-arms, junior class president and a member of student council. He was chosen king candidate for the Christmas dance and was an active member on the prom committee. Armando's senior year was also a busy one. As co-captain of the varsity football team, he helped lead his team to a valley championship. Because of this he was named the WSL IVlost Valuable Back and was selected for both teams in All League. Besides this, he was again a co-captain of the varsity wrestling team and a member of the varsity baseball team. He was also elected Lettermen's Club president and class yell leader. When Armando was asked to reveal the most fun and memorable incident in his last four years he 20 replied, NI enjoyed playing with my football teammates even though at first we had problems. We stayed close like a family, and I just wish I could do it again with the same team next year. When asked which of his four years had been the most enjoyable he commented, 'XI liked all four years. They all had their good and bad points, so I really couldn't pick one over the other. Armando was Raider
