Another memorable year was completed by the administration of Caruthers Union High School. Without their continuous effort the faculties and education available at Caruthers High would not be possible. Their efforts will always be remembered by the students of Caruthers High. TOP: Mr. Barney E. Davis, was Superintendent of Caruthers High School. MIDDLE LEFT: Accountant Secretary, Mrs. Lillian Bennett: Secretary for Mr. Davis, Mrs. Frances Medsker, and Assistant Accountant Secretary, Mrs. Barbara Shelton kept the books for CUHS. MIDDLE CENTER: Principal Mr. Donald Zimkowski, Vice Principal Mr, James Kaspariang and Secretary Mrs. Shirley White worked hard throughout the year making each day memorable. The 1977-1978 Annual Staff was proud to dedicate the annual to Mr. Alton Wamhof, the music teacher at Caruthers High School and Caruthers Elementary School. Mr. Wamhof was born in San Joaquin, CA, married, and has tive children. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 with the anti- aircraft division. He has lived in the Fresno area all his life and has operated a farm in addition to holding a full-time teaching position. Mr. Wamhof received an A.B. degree from Fresno State University. He has also earned his CA Life Elementary Credential, CA Life Standard Secondary Credential and CA Elementary Administrative Credential. He was a part-time bus driver when he began teaching at Caruthers Elementary School in September, 1950. Two years later he became full-time. In 1972, he came to teach the high school band which has tripled in size since then. Mr. Wamhof has been more than just a teacher, he has always been kind, understanding, and very patient. He has spent a lot of his time on Fridays and especially on weekends supervising the band in their many activities. Just seeing his big, bright smile and those beautiful blue eyes would be one way to show just what a terrific kind of guy he really is. Mr. Wamhof has been the kind of person that the students of Caruthers High School have really become attached to and to show their feelings in a small way, the 1977-1978 annual was dedicated to this outstanding man. 9
