uperinfendenf 3 eaaage This Annual has been dedicated to our community and its Civic Leaders. The Caruthers Union High School District has been indeed fortunate in having outstanding civic-minded trustees and community leaders to guide our Administration and Faculty in the educational work to suit the needs of the Community. Soon the District will have a new modern High School, that I am certain the under-graduates will appreciate, as well as the good citizens that have made this modern educational plant available by their vote in our free election of today. I would like to have this opportunity to ask each one of you graduating seniors to think of your high school education as a starting point in life. Today, great changes are taking place in our poli- tical, social, and economic life, and you as a graduate or student, must be able to adjust your lives and philoso- phies as you are the potential leaders of our community, state, and world of tomorrow. It is the aim of the Ad- ministration and Faculty to offer you a good background of the arts and sciences and to stimulate you to think clearly and individually on all present day issues before making a decision which will affect you and your chil- dren's lives in the future, We are indeed fortunate in America, to have free- dom and Democracy existing in our everyday life, but I would like to bring to your attention that your freedom and rights should always be considered along with your responsibilities to your school, community, and others. Harry R, Anderson, Superintendent. rincipafii mdaage One of the real thrills of life is the pride we ex- perience in the accomplishment of a job well done. As you students of Caruthers Union High School and espe- cially the graduating class, close the school year of 1952- 53, you can look back upon the school year that is closing as one of real progress, You have learned in your student body government, C.S.F,, F,F.A., F.H.A., Hi-Y, Tri-Hi-Y, plays, assembly programs, dances, and athletic contests, the spirit of cooperation, give and take, advanced planning, business management, and responsibility that you will find valu- able to you in the years to come. To the graduating class, there are many bright spots ahead, if you have taken advantage of the opportunities that your high school days have offered. For the girls, the world of work offers many fine opportunities. For many boys, it appears that Uncle Sam has first priority on your immediate future. Our selective service laws as they stand today require that all able young men spend at least two years in the Armed Forces of our country. But these need not be wasted years. While you are in military service, you will receive excellent training. If you show the proper interest and aptitude, you will re- ceive specialized training which will help you when you return again to civilian life. My advice is for you to make the best of your time and abilities while in the service. To each and every Caruthers Union High School student, I wish happiness and success as you travel the road of life. Harry Gower, Principal.
