Packer, Loretta Ethrldge CMM' On October 2, 1945, seventy-two Freshmen enrolled at Caruthers High. We felt very big at the idea of being high school students, but soon changed our minds when the Sophomores smeared us up with lipstick. We entered the classroom and started our first day of high school, that is, those who found their rooms. We caught on quickly and were soon going about the regular routine of school. We studied hard and soon had the Seniors amazed at our intelligence. At our first class meeting under the leadership of Mt. Ritchey, our advisor, we elected our class officers as follows: President, Norman McTeer: vice-president, Bill Naborsp secretary, Ioann McClain: treasurer, Edward Ehoffp committeernen, Sally Tiller, Alfred Haggard, Marilyn Packer, Mary Ruth McCormick, Bob Bier, Loretta Ethridge. We were entertained by the Sophomores at the Freshmen-Sophomore party under the leadership of Ioyce Mclntire. We were told a spooky ghost story and sent through a dark room filled with spiders, and numerous other things. The Sophomores topped off the evening by serving refreshments. A few of the Fresh- men boys played football enough to win their letter. In basketball the C team is almost entirely Freshmen, and others play A and B class basketball. The Fresh- men girls also made a good showing in sports such as volleyball and basketball. In the future years we Freshmen plan to carry out our work as successfully as possible. We are striving to make our school and class better than any other one.
