' Juniors ln the year ot T934 we, as 'lscrubs, entered the portals ot the Caruthers Union l-ligh School, Though trightened as we were, we soon got used to the ways ot high school, and atter initiation we settled down to work. As sophomores we gave the scrubs a party, Although we didn't get to initiate them, they had to entertain us at the party-and very good they were, too. We, as juniors, are torty-seven strong The tirst thing we did as juniors was to elect the tollowing otticers tar the yeari president, Pat Young, yice-president, Louise Ulmer, secretary, Barbara Pike, treasurer, Ruby Righetti, finance committee, Paul Tooker, social committee, Ida Nieto and lrwin Etird. The members ot the junior class are tilling many responsible positions in the schooi and on the annual statti Louise Ulmer and Russell Pisor are the student body vice- presidents, Pat Young is the yell leader, as well as the snap editor ot the annual, and Marian Shook is the assistant business manager ot the annual. Our class play, Little lyliss Fortunef' which was presented on March l9, was the first undertaking ot major importance. The members ot the cast cooperated with their directors in such a way that the work was made a pleasure The reports on the play were so tavorable that we are guite proud ot our accomplishments, The cast consisted of Faye lVlcTeer, Pat Young, Marian Shook, Dorothy. Eshelman, Loraine Bernard, Ada Lee Eaton, Constance Nystrem, lrwin Etird, Edwin Cowan, Frank Mills, and Howard Craven. 16 f

First row: Momi Wada, Ruth Jones, Carole Ring, Ruby Pense, Bernice McKinney, Pat Young, Jessie Swacker. Juniors We now have our class rings, and we surely are proud ot them. The junior-senior banquet is our next important event. We expect that it will be the best one that has ever been given at Caruthers l-ligh, The central committee Pat Young, Ruby Righetti, Carole Ring, Faye McTeer, Mary Ladd, Dorothy Eshelman, Marjorie Fraga, Irwin Etird, and Paul Tooker, have selected, as the theme tor the banquet, Valencia, which they plan to carry out as a grape festival in Spain. Ot course, we don't like to brag, but we predict that it will be a pretty grand affair, ottering a good time tor all. Many other interesting projects have been planned during our class meetings and carried out successtully. Our girls have been particularly conspicuous in intra- mural sports and have won many ot their scheduled games. We may proudly admit that the junior class is well represented in athletics, music, debate, dramatics, and other school organizations, and has helped in winning many awards tor the school by its talent. The students ot our class who were on honor study are ltsuko Asa- kawa, l-loward Craven, Minnie Engle, Marjorie Fraga, Caroline Jeremias, Mary Ladd, Bernice McKinney, Faye McTeer, Dorothy Qualls, Ruby Righetti, Carole Ring, Marie Ritter, Marian Shook, Louise Ulmer, and Betty Ward. Our class has been outstanding in many ways and has been a true sport in all of the school activities, whether winner or loser. lt has been above average in scholarship. l-loving completed another important period in our lite, we are now ready to enter upon our last lap and to work tor the highest goals and honors that are within our reach, 'l7 '
