Trustees When Caruthers l-ligh School first opened there wos only one course of studyee college-preparatory. At the present time our board of trustees is providing for four courses-agricultural, commercial, college-preparatory, and general grqduation. The agricultural course is for boys only. lt prepares them for farming and the proper care of livestock. Shop and agriculture are the required subjects. As its name sug- gests, the college-preparatory course prepares for entrance to college. Included in this course are foreign language, mathematics, and science. Training in the commercial course of study includes a study of business principles, bookkeeping, typewriting and shorthand. The general graduation course is taken by pupils who do not plan to attend any higher institutions and do not care to specialize in voca- tional work. English, history, and physical educotion are required in all four courses. ln former years new subjects were added to the curriculum from time to time. None have been added the last few yeors, however, lt has been rumored recently that the board might consider introducing a shop course for girls and a home eco- nomics class for boys. Left to right: J. A. Butler, H. L. Smith, R. L. Gray, C. S. Moore, M. O. Pisor, The trustees of the Caruthers Union l-ligh School hold their regular monthly meetings on the third Monday evening of each month. l-l. L. Smith is chairman of the board and lvl. O. Pisor, the clerk. J. A. Butler, Roy Gray, and C Moore are the other members. The trustees manage the school business and decide on certain issues brought before them by the student body. This year the seniors made a petition asking that they could buy class sweaters. The trustees placed their approval on the petition. The trustees also considered a petition to have school dances. They decided, how- ever, to abide by a previous decision to allow only one dance a year, namely, that of the junior-senior banquet. . The five members of this body are constantly devoting their time and attention to the needs of the school. They are spending many long hours in careful considera- tion, to give the community the best educotional opportunities possible, and we wish to thank them for their attention to our numerous needs and wishes.
