Af fhe darlcesl' momenf he receives a leffer from fhe Am- erican millionaire, Ajax Wollop, announcing fhaf he is coming fo visif Spain and fry fo locafe fhe losf freasure of fhe Gonzales family, buried long ago by Don Alonzo, an ancesfor who fled fo America for polifical reasons. Wollop had befriended fhe grandson of Alonzo: in refurn for fhis kindness The grafeful man gave him a map showing where fhe 'rroasure was buried.
