A hamburger sale on the square was promoted by the Bulldog band, coaching staff, and businessmen in the area. With the money raised from this sale and other projects, the band was able to attend the Lions International National Convention held in Los Angeles, California. As a result of all these efforts between the community and Carthage High School, the band and the majorettes were awarded for the best front line during the convention.
