The Prophecy While passing through North Carolina on my way to take charge of one of the Du Pont factories, l happened to run across a copy of my old hometown newspaper. Glancing through the gossip col- umns and the society page I saw the names of all my classmates. My what a successful class we were. Jo Ann Tilman is one of the nation's leading cartoonists, furnishing cartoons for 25 maior newspapers. Charity Troxler and Jean Barber, who are going to business college in Greensboro, have finally finished the first year course. Ruth Peele is the sole owner of a 2,000 acre cotton plantation, she would be doing all right if it were not for the boll weavil. Jean Muse is the chief instructor at a dancing school in Charlotte, specializing in square and folk dances. Jean Diggs is the chief stenographer at the Carthage Fabric Corp., and handles all of the important secretarial work. Jeanette Shaver is living in Michigan with her husband, who is a maior in the army. Cecil Garner after three years on the staff, has been appointed head nurse at the Lee County Hospital. Helen Street McDonald is the highest paid interior decorator in the country with a salary of 550,000 a year. Max Way has taken Mr. Tilley's place at C. H. S. and is now teaching Biology and Geometry. Jack McKinney has been football coach at S. P. for four years, having lost only one game during that time. Betsy Morrison now lives in Greensboro where her husband is the athletic director at Guilford College. iMax Sullivan after starting out as a mere clerk, is now manager of a large chain of clothing stores. Lloyd McGraw after breaking all college records is now playing professional ball for the Harlem Globetrotters. Edward Shepley after taking over Red Skelton's program has won an award as the nation's top comedian. Mark Inman has been promoted to a sergeant, making him the youngest man on the Highway Patrol with this rank. Sandy Thomas, who skyrocketed to fame after making his debut in Carnegie Hall, is now touring Europe. Our class is well represented in the Armed Forces. Rose Miller has taken Dina Shore's place on the Supper Club. Lester Cockman is the Warrant Officer on the Battleship Missouri. Dot McNeill is a sergeant in the air corps, she always was a flighty girl. Betty Nell Barber, a captain in the Naval Nursing Corps, received a medal for extreme in saving a wounded sailor's life. Worth McDonald, a major in the army, has won so many medals that he had to get an extra duffel bag to carry them. Wade Motsinger, a captain in the Air Corps, recently completed his 600th. mission Bennet Rogers and Fenner Faulkner were decorated by General McArthur for having wiped out an entire company of enemy soldiers by themselves. Jean Seawell is the first woman pharmacist to come to Carthage. Margie Lowe is the manager of the largest jewelry store in North Carolina. lt was interesting to see how the girls who married before graduation were progressing. Eugenia Taylor and .her husband are ioint supervisors in a new textile mill in Lumberton. Billie Comer is recovering nicely after having triplets, 1Mr. Comer isn't doing so well. Mrs. Patricia Seawell has returned to Carthage with her five children after her husband, a colonel in the army, was shipped overseas.
