A WE Lllllll IT By HELEN STREET MCDONALD ACT I INFORMATION PLEASE? CHARACTERS .. ........ FUNNY FRESHMEN SETTING ........,,,,.............,.,.........................., CARTHAGE HIGH SCHOOL The Fall of T947 brought to Carthage High School a band of real true Freshmen, fifty-two strong. We stumbled and mumbled from class to class looking and acting quite bewildered. Under the leader- ship of Miss Ruth Hall and Mr. Hill, however, we straightened up and flew right into a creditable showing. We took part in the May Day fete, went out for athletics and then discovered to our amaze- ment that, in order to be Sophomores we would have to combine with our native qualities as Little Red Riding Hood and Jack, the Giant Killer, the fighting genius of .Ioan of Arc, strength of Samson, wisdom of Solomon, and the good nature of Bob Hope. ACT ll ACCIDENTALLY HERE! CHARACTERS ................,........,..........,....,........,,... SLLLY SOPHOMORES Super fresh, we mounted the steps of dear old Carthage High as Sophornores with more courage than before for this year we were really members of the student body. With the help and guidance of Miss Eula Blue most of us struggled through second year Latin and Algebra, some of us made Beta Club and played varsity basketball, football and baseball and Worth McDonald had .his hopes built high that he might learn how to spell. Finally subiects became a matter of routine and we a routine that mattered. - ACT Ill LAND HO' CHARACTERS ......................................,.............,....... JOLLY JUNIORS Then we were super Sophs, quickly emerging into Jolly Juniors and thinking only of the two glorious years yet to come. We had for our home-room advisor, Mr. Early Tilley, a new teacher. We tried him. He broke us in. The main event of the year undoubtedly was the Junior-Senior Banquet which after much planning and hard work proved to be one of the most successful yet tor so we thoughti. We helped publish the Green and White and helped edit the first issue of the Egahtrac. Without any injury to our joviality we entered the Senior Class. ACT IV GRAND FINALEI CHARACTERS ..............,...............,...,,.,.................... STATELY SENIORS Now we are Seniors, so straight and stately that like the pig's tail we almost bent backwards. Our advisor again this year is Mr. Tilley. The goal is in sight and we have already experienced some of the tasks that fall to Seniors and are looking forward to sneak day, choosing our class play, and finally marching down the aisle in those maroon caps and gowns to receive the reward for our work during the past twelve years. What the future holds for each of us is still a mystery and a challenge, but we know that whatever comes we will be fortified by our instructions in the past, by our faith in the democratic way of life and a will to succeed. In all of which we shall rejoice in our many brilliant memories ofudgysgsperit at Carthage High School.
