Sur- rounded by some near-by city areas, Carthage is a farming community focusing on life in the country. Even though we are affected by the disco sound, fads and fashions, professional business and sports, the theatre and the world of entertainment, we are still regarded, and most of us gratefully so, as a rel- atively quiet community — the home of the Han- cock County seat. Over the past several years a friendly, concerned and dedicated man made his home among the students of Car- thage High. His work with the vocational training of C.C.H.S. students was an advancement and necessity for our school and community. At the end of the semester this year, Mr. Bob Williamson left for Springfield to begin a new adventure. Our best wishes go with him as we dedicate this portion of the yearbook to him. Millie Holtsclaw could fill several pages in a yearbook alone. Pictured, rightfully so with our determined and fair- minded first President’s photo, she is without a doubt, our “under-rated” hired hand. She is patient, sincere, and dis- plays a friendliness that is surpassed by no one. Her con- cern for faculty members and staff is beyond the call of duty, but her affection and assistance for us, the student body is immeasurable. It is with much affection and appre- ciation that we dedicate the 1979 yearbook to “Millie.”
