HONOR SOCIETY The students who are members of this society are chosen by the faculty on the basis of scholarship, citizenship, character, leadership, and cooperation from the sophomore, junior, and senior classes. The student must have at least a B scholastic average and must have die vote of seventy-five per cent of the faculty. Other honors earned by members of this group are: D. A. R. Award-Joyce Prior S. A. R, Award-Darrell Hartweg Girls’ State - Joyce Prior Boys’ State - Darrell Hartweg National Merit Scholar - William Mustain State Farmer and Outstanding Agricultural Student - Byron Geissler Class Valedictorian - Darrell Hartweg Class Salutatorian - Bill Mustain Illinois State Scholarships were won by Janet Daugherty, Loren Smith, Paul Hendren, Wm. Mustain, and Darrell Hartweg. Each year, our Student Council sponsors Citizenship Week. This year a faculty committee selected two good citizens from each class as representatives of the many good citizens of CCHS. Those chosen were: Freshmen: Mary Ann Sullivan and Myron Marlett. This year Darrell Hartweg has served as first vice-president of the State Association of Student Councils and Terry Wilson is newly elected vice-president of the Pekin District. The 1959-60 projects include: Freshman Get-Acquainted Party, Homecoming Activities, Sponsored Assemblies, Assisted with School Pictures, Decorated Christmas Trees, Sent Six Delegates to District Convention, Sent Two Delegates to State Convention, Participated in Light Bulb Selling Campaign, purchased a School Banner, Planned Awards Night Program, Provided Hospitalized or Bereaved School Personnel with Flowers or Gifts, Operated; Candy Stand, School Supply Stand, Coat Check at Basketball Games, and Concession Stands at Holiday Tourna- ment.
