Mrs. Orville Riggs Roger Kent . Rosemary Kent Tom Garrick Poppy Foster . Alex Stubbins . Jane Perkins One of the important dates on our calendar was the Senior Class Play, Don't Darken My Door. With the aid and direction of Mrs. Riggs, our play was a great success. Roger, who is about fifty years of age, well-groomed and vigor- ous mentally and physically, is still unmarried because he hasn't found the right girl. Rosemary is a young girl of about twenty with whom Tom is madly in love. Roger Kent, with whom Rosemary is visiting, doesn't want them to marry and therefore they elope. Poppy Foster is the maid who is always sticking her nose into Rosemary's affairs. Her suitor is Alex Stubbins, with whom she gets very angry at times. Jane Perkins is a novelist who is traveling around in different cities and towns, and all women love to read her romantic stories. Susie, the old maid who still craves a man, has young ideas; but her sister, Louisa, the old-maid manhater, has much older ideas. The play ended very happily with Rosemary and Tom eloping and Jane and Roger falling in love. 46 A READY-MADE FAMILY The story centered around a couple who met, con- cealed their ages and families, and married. The children accepted the marriage in ill humor and planned to break it up with incessant baby talk, fits spasms, and childish pranks. On the other side of the family, the children imitated a kleptomaniac, never ceasing talk of an operation, and other nervous habits. Affairs really developed into a mess; a ghost haunted the house, people were disinherited; and quarrels were tremendous. The play, ably directed by Mrs. Riggs, was an outstanding production.
