Homecoming 85 Homecoming 1985 proved to be an enjoyable, spirit- filled week in which students get to iossen up and have some fun as they participated in the variety of events offered to them. The Hooters and Dons captured first place in the deco- rating with their banner depicting Mickey Mouse as a sor- cerer boasting Carthage's 'iMagic. TKD. Buffs and .100 took second; and Squires and Dazziers placed third. Mon- day, along with the banner display. was Dress-up day and a good number of students gave up their sweats for a day to show some early spirit. Tuesday night was the presenta- tion of the Walt Disney movie. Gus. Wednesday's events began with students donning Mick- ey Mouse T-shirts and sweatshirts proclaiming who the week of Homecoming was centered around. Wednesday nights events began with the Olympic games in the PEG. Events such as balloon popping, fruit passing tneck to neokt and timed pyramids provided for a competitive. fun- filled evening. The winners of the games were K Phi's and M.st. Pi ThetalAB Itch came in second. foltowed by TKD, Butts and JCC in third. The King and Queen were announced at the rally: Stan Kapka and Tara Hamilton. Other court members included the following: Chris DePalma. Pete Schumaker. Bill Ander- son, Brian Heltberg. Tim Palmer. Kari King, Mona Carter, Andrea Renda. Laurie Pomahac and Keily Weaver. Casino ' night was Thursday's big event. The evening had the at- - mosphere of a Midway as students got the opportunity to take some chances with games such as blackjack and poker. and test out their gambling skills. A student repre senting TKD! Butts and JCC came out on top of the 00m- ; petition. trailed by the Squires and Dazzlers in second. TKD. Butts and JCC picked up third as well. Friday. red and white abounded as students donned Carthage shirts or other red and white garments to show enthusiasm through the presentation of their school col- ors. Later that evening, music filled the air as the dance contest began. The winners were the Squires and Dazzlers couple who were dressed as Mickey and Minnie Mouse dancing to No Parking on the Dance Floor. Their original interpretation and style earned them the top slot. Kappa Chi's and Guzzlers came in second with an upbeat fast- moving performance. Turtles and Bioyaettes were thir Sat- urday morning's events were initiated with car decorating. Pi ThetalAB Itch captured first for their flashy set 01 wheets foilowed by TKDlBufts and JCC in second. and Squires and Dazzlers in third The point totals of ail the fioors were accumulated at the end of the week and the winners were determined. In first place was TKDlBufts and JCC tied with Squires and Daz- zlers. The K Phi's and Mst cam in third, In fourth was Pt ThetaIAB itch; in titth was Dons and Hooters: and in sixth was Turtles! Bioyaettes. Homecoming week came to an end with an appropriate sermon by Pastor Samuelson on the importance of people needing people and working together in companionship and caring. Homecoming week was an overall success. School spirit abounded. students worked with each other. and a general feeling of community was created as every- one participated and helped out with the weeks activities. tThis information was taken from Volume XXII, No. 6 issue of the ArrowJ
