Kerri Puleo Twenty-four year old Kerri Puleo is a very talented senior. Besides working towards her Business and Marketing degrees, she sings in a band called Double Take with her brother. This was not the first band she performed in. Others include Smile and Wa-Ta-Taa. The band mostly performs at lounges. private parties, and weddings. Kerri also has an Associate of Arts degree from College of Lake County. Natasha and Nicky Krikoiian Natasha and Nicky Krikoiian are originally from Lebanon. Three and a half years ago they travelled to the United States in search of safety and an education. During their time here. they have noticed some interesting differences be- tween the US. and Lebanon. One of the first impressions they received was friendliness. They had met quite a few people while vacationing here. but everyone, they :: remark. even strangers, say hello. Some big differences occur in the area of education. First of all, government funded col- leges and universities do not exist in Lebanon. The college and universities that do exist have little financial aid, 3 condition which makes ob- r taining a higher education difficult. High schoois too are different, even in how they operate. For exampie, in a school in Lebanon the students do not change classrooms; rather, the teachers move from u class to class. KtI Still another difference is the Lebanese I studentsi curriculum. When a student reaches ' ninth grade, he must choose either a science or literary curriculum. Furthermore, the Lebanon school system requires a minimum of two languages. For Natasha and Nicky and their Lebanese friends, speaking four languages is not unusual. Depending on where they are living and to whom they are speaking, Natasha and Nicky fluently speak Arabic. Armenian, French or English. Natasha and Nicky have returned several times to Lebanon. Even though they like the United States, they like to go back to visit their home country. I'yii'
