FUOTBALL The 1973 football season was marked by many changes. We entered the football Wars minus 3 coaches, with deflated egos and with a one-platoon system of playing. Our real work began in june. Each player and coach knew that only hard work and dedication would make Carteret respected once again in Middlesex County. The first competitions of the year were successful. We began by winning our three scrimmages and our first three regular season games. Unfortunately, this was not the season- to finish unbeaten. Still, the Ramblers proved themselves a fine, strong, physical team and let each opponent know that Carteret was out to play. The sophomores and juniors tasted their first varsity victories. Hopefully, these first few victories will lead to many more. From 80 to 9,' tells the story of the dedication and affinity among the seniors. Our freshman football team started with 80 players. In our final senior game only 9 remained. We were not as successful as We had hoped, yet the 36 games and numerous practices contain memories which will always be ours. For these 9 seniors - Ed Bittner, Pat and Brian Crilley, Jerry Hughes, Stan Keleman, Bob Kulick, Bob Molarz, Nick Ziccardi and Al Zima - the work, the trouble, the friendship and the fun will always be remembered. To the coaches we owe special thanks for the past four years. Our debt to you is an intangible one. Your help, concern and dedication were most important to us. All we can offer in return is our respect and appreciation. Thank you to che coaches and best wishes to the 1974 Ramblers. Jerry Hughes Page 108 QB Hughes ignites Rambler attack.
