Top Eightw During the Fall the Optimist Club sponsored Youth Appreciation Week in the city of Knoxville. Carter High was asked to select the outstanding boy and girl from each of the four classes. The Top Eight were recognized in the Youth Appreciation parade on November 8, 1958. The Carter High Top Eight were: Tommy Wyrick, Ann Hill, Gary Walker, Rosanne Pratt, David Hoskins, Brenda Chesney, Olin King, Gail Bozeman, ALBERT SHERROD The National Merit Qualifying Test is a measure of educational growth and aptitude. Emphasis iS OH broad intellectual skills, on understanding of and ability to use what has been learned, rather than on sheer knowledge of facts. Albert qualified in H115 test and has entered the Scholarship Test. wtf- 'J DAVID LARGE In the fall of 1958 during Oil Progress Week an essay contest was held by the Oil Men of Knoxville, David won second place in the contest with an essay titled Oi1 Man for a Day.
