HI-LITES STAFF Laura Cooper Devon Black September Ayers Shawn Lutton Cindy Holloway Robin Wallace Ray Finley Shelly Mullins Tim Luther Jeanne Wallace, Advisor Walsworth Publishing Co. 1 Starting out the day with a good breakfast, and waiting patiently for the bell to ring to go to that first class. Can this be one of Mr. Wallace's American History classes? He told us no one in his class ever knew the answers to his questions. Roxanna Leach and Cathy Nance are inventing a new dance step. We think these clowns are Mrs. Ramsey, Babsi, Yvonne Fortner and ??? Tracy Crowley carrying home some District Business Contest trophies. 2 If these two didn't get Sweetest Smile, they should have. Above right: Ernie Powell and Tracey Bishop are determined to make this basket count. Left: Bo Derek and Brooke Shields eat your hearts out.” Shelley Mullins and Robin Wallace are getting it together. Bottom: Mr. Slicer, George Handel, and Angie Duckett setting up the old refresh- ment stand for another fun-filled evening of popping popcorn and serving cokes. 3 During Open House, many visitors came in to look over and try out some of the Apple lie computers. For the last several years, the high school cheerleaders have held a one-week cheerleading school for the junior high and elementary girls interested. After the schooling, an assem- bly is held for the entire school to see the girls perform some of the cheers they have learned. One more group of winners for Ellsinore Schools to be proud of. Colleen Bartin, Babsi, and Barbara Lindner with trophies from speech contest. rJLL U U U yU 7iyJU=, U U U U U U W l Lb, u iyywp ©yywp ©yywiM©y[L s©MLTW ©yLWFA©yLTW ©QJ ©MLWlPAeyiLTW yLWIFA© TFA©PLTWA©y[LWPA©y[LWPA A©yLTWA©yLWPA©yiLTW. Ruby Nunley, High School Secretary Susan Cooper, Elementary Secretary Deva Darby, Clerk In every organization, there are those who play a vital part in the efficient functioning of the daily business who do not receive the recognition they deserve. Four such people here at EHS are Top Right, Sophie Boyer. Mrs. Boyer has been Secretary to the Superintendent for at least 12 years. She is the cog that runs the wheels upstairs. Below Left Linda Raymer, who always has a smile on her face — and usually a broom in her hand. Together with her husband, Bunker, they do all of the maintenance in the school facilities. When there is something going on at school after hours, they have to stay and make sure everything is left in order. They spend many hours here. Below Right, Doyle Beckwith is the man responsible for keeping our busses on the roads. Rain, sleet, or snow — if a bus breaks down, out he has to go. I’m sure that many times the students wish he were not so dedicated to keeping the busses out there. 10 Regardless of what students think, teachers are real people too. We let our hair down every once in awhile. Life is too short to go through it with a cold heart and a frown on your face. Mr. Leach may never be asked to replace Bob Barker, but we will take advantage of his talents as long as he will let us. Our new elementary art teacher, Mary Jo Russell and her shiek, Jim Wilder stepping out at the Fall Festival. Is Mr. Daugherty looking out for Mrs. Merritt and Mrs. Nunley, or are they looking out for him? Mrs. Merritt is ready to flee back to her classroom if she gets caught. 11 Santa Claus is coming to town, and you will enjoy Christmas, Mr. Leach. Our most frequent substitute teacher, Agnes Boyer, getting her daily workout. Always the epitome of fashion, Janet Leach Faye Merritt model the latest. Roxanna Leach looks on as Mrs. Ramsey contemplates strangling Angie Duckett. Tracy Crowley and Delane Beckwith battle it out at the ping pong table. Cathy Nance and Candace seem to be having their own battle about something. Cheerleading? My Honey and Cutie Pie were concocted by Shelly Mullins. Mr. Leach and Robin Wallace trying to conduct class. The blind leading the blind. Mr. Wallace seems to have his under control. But then, doesn’t he always. Open House was a big success, with many parents and students attending. Nurse Jennifer Chaligoj is deep in conversation with an interested party. Angie Duckett, Laura Cooper, Candace Mullin, and Roxanna Leach help serve refresh- ments. A former graduate, Kathy Kearbey returned to the scene. Many were interested in the com- puters, and Patrick Patterson willingly gave them a demonstra- tion. 53 The Fall Festival was a big success, with the money being used to buy tv’s for some of the elementary rooms. Mary Lou Crites and Shirley Adams were among those who enjoyed the bingo games. Wish we knew who the old crone was, but whoever it was never unveiled. The costume competition was very colorful. The speech class put on a play for the youngsters. One of those enjoying the evening was Heather Ramsey, granddaughter of Jeanne and Edwin Wallace and LaVonne Ramsey. LaVonne is in the clown suit. To celebrate SPIRIT WEEK, many students dressed in the prescribed costumes to win prizes and awards. When Christmas came to Ellsinore this year, we were overrun by Santa Claus. The career classes dressed as Santa and went to local businesses each day to play Santa for the kids. Some teachers even decorated their doors for the door decorating contest. Delane Beckwith, Tracy Crowley, Ray Finley, and Devon Black wore their camouflage suits so they wouldn’t be seen by Mr. Daugherty leaving the back way. Spirit was high when the Lady Redbirds made it to the Regionals. A big parade was held in their honor, and Big Bird was out in full bloom. Stacey Bowman, Delane Beckwith, Ernie Powell, Devon Black, Brian Grim, and Tim Luther painted up for the occasion in reds and whites. Probably the most unique experience to come before the student body (and teachers) this year was the birthday present given to Mr. Wills. As you can see by the look on Mr. Leach’s face and Robin’s, they will remember Jasmin the belly dancer for a long time. 57 R. HI.
