Outstanding Events SEPTEMBER 26 The combined Ellsinore and Van Buren bands at- tended the Alton “Fail Band Festival”. OCTOBER 9 In connection with the carnival, the play “Pigtails” was presented. 10-11 Two days of carnival spirit was furnished by the school with each class sponsoring booths and attractions. 14 Members of the chorus and band went to Malden to head the United States Marine Band. NOVEMBER 12 Fremont and Van Buren assisted Ellsinore in a con- cert featuring mixed chorus, glee club, quartets, trios, and solos. 17-21 Broseley Invitational Tournament Ellsinore-57 Williamsville -46 Ellsinore-50 Broseley -53 Ellsinore-69 Naylor -47 Our team captured third place. DECEMBER 9-12 Birch Tree Tournament Ellsinore-66 Fremont -46 Ellsinore-52 Eminence-35 Ellsinore-54 Licking -5] Ellsinore-54 Alton -58 Our team won second place. Albert Morlen and Charles Miller placed on the “All-Star Team”. Dick Shoat received the Sportsman ship award. 17 A Christmas Program was rendered by the entire music department. JANUARY 21-24 Poplar Bluff Invitational Tournament Ellsinore-58 Annapolis-48 Ellsinore-6l Jackson -66 Ellsinore-46 Doniphan -50 The “Redbirds” placed fourth in the tourney. Charles Miller made the “All-Star Team”. 27 Ellsinore -109 Naylor-53 During this game Charles Miller broke previous records by making 67 points.
