Text from Pages 1 - 104 of the 1986 volume:

WASN’T THAT A PARTY' The theme this year tor the Medicine Rocks Annual is Wasn't That A Party . When considering this, many of our readers will have thoughts of wild, uncontrollable frolicing ■filled with fermented beverages, but that is not the intention of this yearbook. High school is said to offer the greatest times one will ever experience in his or her lifetime. It should be filled with friends, funf and memorable experiences one will fondly look back on. The intention of this annual edition is to emphasize upon these memorable and enjoyable experiences. In lieu of this we hope you enjoy 'Wasn’t That A 1 ■ SOUTH AFRICA Apartheid Uihots News For 1986? Season's greetings from Fort Lauderdale, and watch out below Wreaking Havoc on Spring Break ylW ee« Miami Vice D6DIC RTION l€ROV“WHIT€V JARD€€ THIS YEAR THE CARTER COUNTY ANNUAL IS DEDICATED TO LEROY WHITEY) JARDEE. WE FEEL THAT WHITEY HAS SHOWN THE QUALITIES OF A TRUE HERO THROUGH HIS ABILITIES TO OVERCOME OVERWHELMING OBSTACLES WITH UNCEASING DETERMINATION AND UNMATCHED STRENGTH AND COURAGE. WE SALUTE THIS OUTSTANDING HERO OF OUR COMMUNITY AND HIS FAMILY. IN M€MORY OF Clctro Nies The 1986 Medicine Rack yearbook is dedicated to the memory of Clara Nies. Mrs. Nies was a strong supporter of CCH5 and the school’s activities all her life. She had si children, twenty grand children, and two great-grand children graduate from CCHS by the year 1986. She set up the Frank and Clara Nies Memorial Scholarship to provide financial help to CCHS graduates so they could reach their dreams. We the class of 1986 salute Clara Nies tor all the support she has given CCHS and the Ekalaka community. CO-€DITORS- Jim Speelmon Corbit Harrington BUS. MGR. ■ John €lmore I am glad I have survived through the experiences the 1985-86 school year has provided me. It has been enlightening, educational, and powerfully influential in the knowledge one must have when working with others. I have learned much about my community, my instructors, my friends, and myself. I am privileged to have graduated with some of the best people to ever bless these hallways. We have seen each other through the best and worst of times, and although it is likely that our class will never again congregate in the same place at one time, we will always be a part of one another as fami 1y. I wish only the best on these friends I leave behind in CCHS. Never lose your individuality, your sense of self—worth, and your voice in the affairs of this school. Rise above challenges you will face. It will make you a better person. As I write my annual, I again, I sit here trying to editorial for this realize that once have no guidance. I realize that I am not the only one to not be guided and I certainly will not be the last. My advice to the future unguided is to do your own thing. If people tried to make things as easy as they have difficult, the world would be a boring place to live. The younger generations would actually learn morals and values. We are proud and happy to live in a society where problems are ignored and we can thrive. As I reflect on my high school career, I realize that I am just about an expert on handling life without the advice of the honored instructors of all that is good and fair. Thank you to the few and lucky who assisted the class of 1986 and who contributed to the school POSITIVELY. 6 by Corbit Harrington Co-edi tor by Jim Speelmon Co-editor FACULTY Back row 1 to r Mr. Ken von. We were never frightened little freshman. We did our best to keep the other classes under control. Unfortunately, Rhonda Liss left us at the semester. Our sophomore year was great, but what else could it be with us? We tried to train the Class of 87 to be good little freshmen, but they didn’t quite pick it up! At the beginning of our junior year, we lost Kasey Guyer and Colleen Campbell and gained Jonna Brakke. Our main concern was Prom. We were too lazy to raise money, so we didn’t quite go all out, but it served the purpose. That was also the year that several of our classmates started the Low-Life Club. They held regular meetings at the Gravel Pit. We were Junior Rulers!!! As seniors we were fantastic! We lost Rebecca Wilson and gained Ernie Melum. We spent our year doing absolutely nothing except enjoying the luxuriant life of seniors. The diverse, but fabulous Class of 1986 consists of well adjusted, mature young adults; all eager to enjoy life to the fullest. 65 As I flew into Ekalaka Internet i on l on’Air Forte I.
