CLfi 7 PROPHECY by TeAti Raye Higginb One day in the yeaA 2000, I wab bittinc on my backpotch chewing bazooka babble gum and leading a fanny magazine when Hetman da Warn cratvted up on my aim. Hetman looked like he had a big beelet, bo I said, Hetman, come on and tetl me youA big 4 ecAet. He 4aid, I've got the mob1 inter eb ting 4toty to tell you. I wab jubt down in Ekalaka and 4au.' a tot o(j my old ftiendb. .1 got all excited and abked Hetman to tell me all about it! So Hetman told me hib btory. . . . Kb I crawled into town, I pabbed Changetb Vitt Working Company. Call go bo rich from hib buccebbfal hubinebb that he bought all 4 of hib child- ten a bland neto ttanb-am. He albo oped up Bkalaka’b fitbt Chi neb e lebtaul- ant. I ctaioled on downtown. Kb I hit Main Street, I pabbed the T 6 R Stand- aid, and thete, to my sutptibe, mb Helen Matenovbky. I guebb bhe’b the bebt mechanic in town. I ctaioled up on Helen’b atm and ab we were vibiting, bhe abked me to go down to T.J.’b Bat and Glitl fat a glabb o j lemonade. I took he up on it, and ab toe leached the rebtaurant, I ioas glad to bee T.J.’b pietty, bmiling face thete to gleet ub. White uv wete thete, Vonny Boggb came in abking fat Kittif. I figured out what he meant when T.J. came tunning, atmb opened oxide, to meet him. I walked Helen back to T H R, and ab 1 wab getting neady to leave, I glanced actobb the bfleet and bow Bob Blanchard. You guebbed it--he ib STILL working on hib old blue jeep. I ctaioled up on Bob’b arm and we began vibiting. He told me that hib blue jeep ib btitl the hottebt outfit in town even though it hab been thtough 11 mototb and he ib jubt putting in the 12th. J bat and vibitied with Bob fat a while. He told me that John Kdamb [aliab 9weet Cheekb) had become a ttue bheephetder. He even grew a beatd to ptove it. It took him all of the last 10 yeatb on the WalteJU’ tanch though. Bob then told me that Bill Wilbon wab Chieif Mabtet Setgeant of the Matineb. 1 guebb he ib meanet and tougher than SeAgeant Cattet oa even hib Vad in Study Halt. J decided to go on down to the high bchoot to bee if thingb had changed any, and bute enough, with Mr. SchillingeA’b age deeping up on him, he had to have a replacement, bo there wab ol’ Rodney Walker getting quite a kick out of making thobe kidb tun monkey dtillb. I could bee they needed a rebt, 40 I went and crawled up on Rodney’b atm and Rodney baid, Herman, Old Herman da Worm, gee it ib good to bee you! He told me that hib old gill friend, Tracey Owen ioab now living notth of Ekalaka on the 101 road with 2 kidb, a boy named Cody Jt. and a gilt named Clatice, and they all live happily out on Johnbon’ 4 Big Valley. He told me that TayteA 8ucfe now hab hib own private body bhop whete he bpendb all of hib spate time fixing hib and Rodney’ pickupb. Since they ate the mobt wrecked in town, and with Ekalaka’b record, that IS baying a tot! Rodney told me that Kin Stieg wab STILL chabing Horton. She’ll probably get him becaube you know Kim, bhe’b got a lot of go gel ’em. Kb we were talking, I wab a ftabh of a blight gold buit go whizzing by. I looked really puzzled, so Rodney baid, Hetman, did you bee that gold buit go by? I baid, Yea, what wab it? He told me that it wab Pearl Ward. She btaited delivering flowetb far the F.T.V. Flotibtb. She delivers evetiwhere in a 100 mile radius. [Fobtebt betvice atound) I decided to be going, bo I baid good’bye to Rodney and went on my my. Kb I wab crawling down Main Street, I heard a comotion at the Court Hoube. I looked up and there wab Haney Kay CaAteA. I went and CAawled up Nancy’b arm and bhe baid, Herman da Worm, buAe ib good to bee you! Then I abked Nancy what bhe wab doing tnaking all the fubb. I, KIM STIEG, will my bnownie points with the teachen to Russ Pickens and my position as attendance taken in hand to Lonenda fix... the stowen you go the mone mnmups you miss. I» T. J. STOUT, witt my bowed tegs to att of the envious underclassmen. Eat your hearts out! I, ROVNEV WALKER, atilt my naturally thick, cunty hain to Kin. Tuggte and my snoning ability to Shay Beyer so he can keep Snappy awake at tournament next yean. J, PEARL WARV, will my ability to play the flute to Colleen Quam and ny ability to nun the mite to Jute Walter. I, MARILYN WHITNEY, will att my good times to anyone who has a spare minute. Have fun fellas! J, BILL WILSON, wilt ny ability to go thnough 4 yeans of highsdwol causing tnouble without getting caught to my little bnothen, Jim. CLfl Z HI TORY The Class of SO stanted out as most classes do. We found ounselves in the halts of old CCHS as frightened fneshmen with 35 students in oun class. Then, someiohene along the tine, duning that memorable yean, we lost two of oun classmates. Pam Lewis and Tamana Jones wcne sonely missed by the nest of the ctass• When we toene sophomones, we knew a little mone of what was going on in the wontd [on so we thought). We had 35 students that yean, file tost 1 and gained 3 students. We tost Kyle Rehbein and lane Yanzick. Tire old school was neven the same after they left. We did, howeven, gain a few new addi- tions to oun class. Julie Joppa, Rodney[ Walken, and Vamon Hittelstedten came to oun school and joined the class. The junion yean of high school was when we realty thought we had t'ie only class with class. We wene neatly getting up high on the totem pole of success, and thought we had just abi’ut leached the peak, and the nest ivoutd alt be downhill. We wene wneng! We had 34 in oun ctass that yean. T. J. Stout and Vavid and John Adams came to join oun class and Janna Coleman, Julie Joppa, and Vamon tUttetstedten left us. This was the yean that toe wene kept busy with the prom. It tunned out to be a tot of fun. Now we ane seniors becoming pnepaned to go out into the wontd and seek oun fortunes. We have 35 students in our ctass now. Beth Elmone, Bill Nelson, and Gneivin Alfaro, the exchange student, came to join us in oun gneat [we think so anyway) ctass. We have tost 2 of out membens this yean. Karen Hankins and Jenny Jenkins have depan ted, and we miss them veny much. As seniors, we begin to realize that the wontd is not alt noses. If a penson considens that every rose has a thonn attached to its side, they then can realize that for eveny time something good happens, usually something not so pleasant happens to counteract it. This is one of the many lessons wo have teamed thnough the foun good years we've been in high school. Haybc if we keep this in mind, it wilt help us thnoughout the coming yeans. 23
