Brice Lambert Salutatory Address Linda Bergstrom SENIORS CLASS HISTORY On August 24, 1962, the doors of CCHS opened to twenty-one jubilant boys and girls who were very proud that they were seniors at last. We were sorry to find that Kay Anderson Gundlach, Monte Lou Stenseth Munro, Orlen Carver, and Roy Askin were no longer with us. Our first class meeting was held under the supervision of Mr. Maland, our class sponsor. We elected Brice Lambert as president, Judy Lovec as vice president, Gary Townsend as sec- retary-treasurer, Kenny Ehly as student council representa- tive, and Anna Heggen as homecoming queen candidate. Our class play, Hurricane Harriet , was presented to an enthusiastic audience on April 24. The Junior-Senior Prom was held on May 4 with the theme Stairway to the Stars . Phyllis Wocicki was Prom Queen and Jim Hunter was Prom King. On May 5 the Seniors spent the day in Miles City, where they went on some interesting tours and had a lovely banquet. Baccalaureate was held on May 19 and Class Night on May 20. Linda Bergstrom gave the Salutatory address and Brice Lambert the Valedictory address at Commencement on May 20. Mr. Howard Porter of Billings Business College gave the com- mencement address. Four wonderful years at Carter County High School have come to a close. Queen Phyllis, King Jim Senior Banquet 18 JUNIORS JUNIORS On August 24, 1962, thirty-two juniors entered the doors of CCHS to take over the responsibilities of upperclassmen. At our first class meeting presided over by our new class sponsor, Mr. Smolich, the following class officers were chosen: Wes Mader, president; Sharon Kalstrom, secretary- treasurer; and Russ Lambert, student council representative. Lorine Renshaw was chosen to represent our class as our home- coming queen candidate. Our class play, entitled Hessie of the Hills”, was pre- sented February 12, 1963 in the high school gymnasium. We eagerly received our class rings January 20 and spent the rest of the month admiring them and showing them off. Mona Williams and Lorine Renshaw were named Girls State Delegates with Sharon Kalstrom and Barbara Hofeldt as alter- nates. Russell Lambert and Jim Johnstone were named for Boys State with Weston Mader and Kenny Blutt as alternates. The Junior-Senior Prom was May 4 with the Avengers” playing. The theme was Stairway to the Stars”. Our wonderful junior year has come to a close and we anxiously await our coming status as seniors. 20 Sharon Kalstrom Secretary-Treasurer Russ Lambert Student Council Denny Blutt Kenny Blutt Richard Burch John Bergstrom Bill Carlisle Cecil Chambers Mike Chapman 21 Marcie Jardee Linda Johnson Don Johnstone Jim Johnstone Bob Kittelmann Ross Major Sandra Rolph Carol Schweigert Ned Summers 22 Joe Whitney George Yates - SOPHOMORES We started out as a Sophomore class of thirty-six stu- dents. As we looked around the classroom we discovered that Sandra Hunt, Ray Kirkwood, Susan Price, Jo Ann Sterns Elmore, and Bill Wilson were no longer with us. Helen Kortum Stevens, Don Elmore, Ted Liss, and Pat Tooke had joined us as new classmates. Shortly after school started Rex Ewalt, and Arthur Melum left us and Mike O’Connor joined us. At the beginning of the year we chose our class officers. We elected them as follows: Harve Howell, president; Earl Collins, vice-president; Pat Tooke, secretary-treasurer; Tony Nies, student council representative; ane Mary Lovec, home- coming queen candidate. Mr. Lambert was our class sponsor. In the weeks preceding Homecoming, we engaged ourselves in various noney-maKing projects for the support of our candi- date . During the year we sponsored socK-hops and helped the Freshmen arrange and cement the C on the hill overlooking Ekalaka. Now as our sophomore year draws to a close, we are looking forward to next year when we will become upperclassmen. 24 Pat Tooke Secretary-treasurer Tony Nies Student Council Alvin Croy Toni Culver Candy Curry Darrel Curry 25 Don Hughes Kenny Marty Virginia Pulse Gary Jardee Leroy Jardee Theodore Liss Roger Peabody Jim Peterson Sue Powell i Helen Stevens Greg Tooke Sharon Tooke 26 FRESHMEN On August 24, as the doors of Carter High opened, in walked thirty-five scared and bewildered guys and gals who were to make up the freshman class. During the course of the year, we were sorry to lose Linda timore and Doug Yates. Ht our first class meeting, we were glad to find that Kr. Rowe was to be our sponsor. We elected Jonnie Askin as president, Mary Culver as vice-president, Linda Cline as secretary, and Doris Blair as student council representative. By working hard, we were able to have Lois Croy, our queen candidate, crowned Homecoming Queen. In the fall, under order of the sophomore class, the Freshmen trooped up C hill to cement the ”C . Although it was fun being Freshmen, we- are all looking forward to being Sophomores. 28 Linda Cline Secretary-treasurer Doris Blair Student council Rus Hall Mike Howell Robert Jesperson Ruth Jesperson -r Kenneth Johnstone Margaret Johnstone Linda Burch Lennet Coons Lois Dean Evalynne Emerson Herb Kerr Joe Liss Sheila Collins Johnella LaBree Mike Lovec Sue McLean Linda Mulkey Carol Nies Eugene Odell Andrea Parks Sherry Peabody Sue Silvis 30 ACTIVITIES f4w iecot u tg PftWfe Lorine Renshaw Lois Croy Ross Major, Princess Lorine Renshaw, Prank Pelican, Princess Anna Heggen, Rick Frye, Queen Lois Croy, Brice Lambert, Gary Townsend, Princess Mary Lovec, Kenny Ehly, Russ Lambert •7T • •• Aft ■ HOMECOMING CORONATION y ' K ■ ''V -5.' i . ■ i . , V ' - .♦■3 • V ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ANNUAL STAFF Margie, Ginny, Linda, Marla Managing Editor...
