We were glad to welcome back Marlene Stenseth Burch, Also we were proud of the fact that we had not lost a member over the summer months. Calling our class together for the first meeting, we elected class officers. Those chosen were Jerry Collins president, Doug Marston vice pres- ident, and Marge Wiseman secretary-treasurer, Kay Schneider represented our senior class as the Homecoming Queen Candidate. Mr, Lambert was our sponsor. We were very successful in the Homecoming campaign, and Kay was crowned Homecoming Queen of 1960-61. Arzella Phelps, Agnes Elmore, and Barbara Mulkey quit school reducing our class from twenty-five to twenty-two members. Our senior class play was presented April 27. The name of it was The Scarlet Ghost. The Junior Senior Prom was held on May 13- We went to the Black Hills for our Sneak Day trip. On the night of May 15, a group of tired but happy seniors returned home. Sharon Higgins was selected as Valedictorian and Marge Wiseman as Salutatorian. Baccalaureate fell on May 21, class night was held on May 23. Commencement, our final class gathering, was held on May 25® on this happy date we bade good-bye to all the faculty members and lower classmen. Thus came to a close four happy years in Carter High. General Science Class nt work STUDENTS AT Juniors in English III Frank, Bill, and Roger in Physics Class WORK Jim, Sharon, and Lorine Gen neral Science 16 JUNIORS On August 31 I960, the doors opened for thirty-five juniors as upperclassmen, four of which we lost before the yearwas completed. At our first class meeting, presided over by our class sponsor Mrs. Curry, Don Gundlach was chosen as president. Sherry Farwell as vice president, and Diane Kalstrom as secretary- treasurer. Myrna Wilson represented our class as our Homecom- ing Candidate. Our class play Two Dates for Tonight in which fourteen members of our class took part was presented December 15 I960 at the high school gymnasium and March I4., 1961 at the Ridgway Hall. It proved to be a grand success. We received our long awaited class rings on January 23. For the rest of the week the juniors could be seen proudly showing them off. The Junior-Senior Prom was held May 13 with the City Kings Orchestra playing. The gym was decorated beautifully and everyone had a wonderful time. Diane Kalstrom and Sharon Penn were named Girls State Delegates with Frank Loehding and Tom Blair chosen as delegates for Boys1 State: with alternates as follows: Beverly Bush and Margaret Chapman for the girls and for the boys Sherry Farwell and Eric Musser. This year it was our turn to initiate the freshmen, and on initiation day they wore their designated costumes, and that ev- ening we gave them a party with refreshments afterwards. When Homecoming grew near we elected as our queen candidate, bherry Marston. All the class took part in campaigning by de- corating a float and window. Since then we have lost three more students; Janice Anderson, Flora Belle Wasnuk, and Roger Peabody, leaving a total of I4O. We elected Russell Lambert president, Mike Chapmanvice president, and Lorine Renshaw, secretary-treasurer. Mr. Mead was our sponsor. On initiation day we decked ourselves out with the pe- culiar looking costumes which the sophomores had ordered us to wear. That night they gave us a dance. Homecoming made hard-working students with an abundance of school spirit, out of us with its different activities. Although, Mona Williams, our queen candidate did not get the honor of being first we were all very proud of her. Later in the year we gave the sophomores a return dance. Again under the sophomore orders we painted the C . As freshmen we are looking forward to becoming sophomores so that we may give orders instead of take them.
