SOPHOMORES Twenty-nine students answered the sophomore roil call when the doors of Carter High opened in September Marjorie Wiseman ana Joyce Arney were our new members. We elected Doug Karston as president, Orman Lende as vice presi- dent, and Trixie Stieg as secretary-treasurer, John Butrymowicz was our class sponsor. Then came the freshmen initiation. We dressed the freshmen up in many different kinds of costumes They wore these all day in then in the evening we gave them a party The homecoming season found us hard at work washing cars, selling tickets, ana getting our float resay. It wasn't quite enough, though to enable Gayle Major, our queen candidate, to wear the crown and robe. Our toil on the float gave us first place in the parade Jim Powell left us in March to work on a ranch, Colorado beckon- ed to the Arney family, so we watched Joyce leave our group also. One of our former classmates, Beth Kirkwood, joined us at the start of the second semester. The warm spring weather found us romping around the 11 mountain supervising the freshmen in the traditional painting of the C , Our class picnic just before the end of the school year rounded out a bus but fun-filled sophomore year.
