THE CLASS OP 1939 Edwin Loken Helen Frye Vice President President Dorothy McKnight Jennie Ixm Fowler Marie C, Peterson Secretary Treasurer Sponsor School opened with twenty seniors. None have dropped and the class gained Jay Stanley at the beginning of the second semester. The class held a meeting September 21 to decide whether they preferred to get sweaters or rings. Rings were favored and a salesman summoned.. Rings of sterling silver with inlaid pearl were chosen. The class colors are lemon and orchid, and the class flower is the yellow rose. The motto Suc- cess crowns patient effort” is on the announcement, The Adorable Age was given with a cast of nine as the class play on March 25. Maxine Powell was candidate for All-school Queen. Helen Frye, Maxine Powell, Edwin Loken, Robert Scruggs, and James Nies won basketball letters; James Nies and Marvin Douglas had football letters; James Nies, Arthur McKnight and Marvin Douglas are on the track team; Eddie Loken was table tennis champion of the school. Anna Lee Cleveland is valedictorian and Dorothy McKnight, salutatorian. Others ranking high are Helen Frye, Maxine Powell, and Arthur McKnight. Forty-eight per cent of the seniors were honor roll students at some time during the year. The class decided to go to Fighting Butte for sneak day and Ekalaka Park for senior breakfast. 6
