WE HIT ' EM HARDER! The J. V. ' s returned from a fair 1983 season, in which they placed 3rd in league behind Banning and San Pe- dro. In the 1984 preseason games, the young Colts showed their talent in tne Redondo-Palos Verdes Tour- nament with an opening round win against host team Palos Verdes, 7-5. Unfortunately, the following week they lost to a very good West Tor- rance High team (5-3) and Palos Verdes II (4-3). Hang in there, Colts. The Junior Varsity baseball team is very young this year consisting of 11 sophomores and 6 juniors. Out of the six junior players, four are re- turnees from last year ' s J.V. ' s. They are Tom Pickle, Steve Ichiho, Caesar Delgado, and Kevin Welch. The oth- er two juniors are Tony Lopez and Gilbert Ortega. These players should bring experience and leadership to this talented and young team. As the preseason ended, hopes of a successful season were on every player ' s mind. Following the Redon- do-P.V. Tournament, the Colts opened up league play against the Gardena Mohicans. Bouncing back from their preseason losses, they pounded the Mohicans, 8-1; With good teams such as Narbonne and San Pedro and always tough Banning still to play. The Colts are very en- thusiastic about their chances of be- coming League Champs.
