LADY SPIKERS IN ACTION Coached by Mr. Morotta and Ral- phallonc Mertens, Varsity and Junior Varsity Volleyball teams had a very successful season. Varsity ' s record was 7-5, and junior Varsity ' s was 11- 7. Varsity ' s league record was 6-4; Gardena was considered the tough- est opponent for the mighty colts. Gardena handed the Colts their only two defeats; Carson placed second in league. The returning players for Varsity were Lamme Malunao, Lisa Figueroa, Debbie Marasco, Lynn Alofaituli, and J oaf a Fuifui. The Junior Varsity had an even brighter look in the league. Their re- cord was 9-1, losing only once to Banning. Jr. Varsity managed to re- venge that loss with a score of 15-7 and 15- 10. Junior Varsity participat- ed in pool play (All-City teams). Un- fortunately, they went only as far as the quarter finals, which they lost after a great game to Bell High School. The returning players for the J. V. ' s were Phillipa Gagau, Lei Tole, Re- becca Tauanuu, Sharon Stoneburg, Tinei Eupa, and Inez Utu. 7. As Debbie Marasco bumps, .ill eyes are on the ball. 2. Mr. Moretta and company. 3. The Boys ' Junior Varsity Volleyball is just as important as the Varsity. The game is fast paced and very ex- citing. You must be strong to play this very physically demanding sport. In a volleyball game, there ' s never a dull moment. The J.V. Volleyball Team is the stepping stone into the varsity squad. Many of this year ' s members will undoubtably be on the varsity team next season. Next year ' s team promises to be a good one. 7. Lincoln and Carson play a little two-on-two volleyball. 2.
