THE STING OF CARSON ' S BEES The ' Killer Bees of 1983 is the 8th Bee team in Carson High ' s histo- r to go undefeated. Led by Coach Irvin, thev had a 9-0 record at the end of the season. The) a eraged 37 points a game with the help of Paul Abbott, Marc Peitzmeier, Donnie Southerland, Jose Vasquez, and Marc Walters. These young men are only a few of many other outstand- ing players who have helped the team become Pacific League Champs. Coach Irvin noted, I ' ve had one of the best teams ever at Carson! Donnie Southerland led the 1983 Bee football team to an undefeated season (9-0). Donnie, said Coach Finis Irvin, is a good team leader. Donnie played the positions of free safety and running back. He also punted, kicked extra points, and ran punts and kick offs. He was asked to move up to the Varsity team in the playoffs, but he decided to hit the books instead. Even though football takes away most of his time, Donnie still maintains a high grade. 7.
