Carson and Banning: these teams . - ua s spell .) majoi high school football t hallange. In the 1982 season, Carson was rated third in the state; 1983 ' s statis- tic s have improved greatly. Every year, ( at son Colts train hard to prepare for the big game. Sometimes it pays off; sometimes it doesn ' t. The Colts always give this major challenge everything they ' ve got. The old ri alr means excit- ing matches tor the players and specta- tors alike. The Carson-Banning challenge is alwa s ■ thrill, win or lose. Ot course, 1983s 14-12 Carson Colt win made this year ' s game all the greater. ■ s exi iting as the game was, the foot- ball plavers were not the onlv interesting thing on the Held. Spectators were treat- ed to an exceptionally tine performances by both Carson and Banning Drill teams and bands. Students and adults watched and listened to the half-time show. Skill and spirit were shown by both school ' s pep divisions; Colt pride grew as the Blue and Black marched by. A full house is not uncommon during a Car- son-Banning match; this year ' s audience was treated to a great game and great entertainment as well. 1 Carson defense (better known as the Di- saster Crow ) obliterates Banning ' s offense. 2. Banning ' s quarterback eludes Leroy Ale, lust to be stopped by ex-Banning tcam- mjte Vada Bo .ins 3. Da id Niko jumps high to deflect a pass thrown by Banning ' s quarterback. 4.
