Interact Club Interact is an active club both on and off campus. This group was ori- ginally formed by Mr. Groth, Car- son ' s Principal, for the purpose of serving both the school and commu- nity. Today, under the care of Mr. Reichert, the group has increased membership as well as services. The tutors lend an individual touch to the education of grade school stu- dents, helping them with spelling, math, and reading. Each tutor has the chance to get to know a young child very well; it is rewarding for both teacher and student. Squires is an organization for ju- nior boys wishing to participate in service activities to benefit Carson High. The Squires help Carson throughout the year, with such func- tions as assisting in the collection of football game tickets. Squires also help seat fans. Squires enjoy helping with graduation services. Squires stand as a symbol for all young men, offering a high standard of service and excellence. LAS MADRINAS Las Madrinas is an honor club for junior girls. During holidays and spe- cial occasions (such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas) Las Madrinas members sell candy grams to the student body for fund raising. Las Madrinas offer spirit and service to Carson. Their sponsor Mrs. Stuart is also ready with an encouraging smile. Caroldale Tutors -py Carson volunteers meet with school teachers from Caroldale ele- mentary and work closely with their sponsor, Mrs. Rousseau. Each tutor is matched to several young children in a one-on-one assistance program. Young students are given the chance to really get to know an older stu- dent. California Scholastic Federation (C.S.F.) is one of the most difficult honor societies to enter for a high school student. With near straight- A grades, C.S.F. members volunteer to peer-tutor other Carson Colts. Stu- dents wishing help in any subject meet with C.S.F. tutors to receive free assistance with classes. Tutors are rewarded with grateful smiles from fellow students and a special luncheon at year end. 37
