t J- £ -S=3- e •± BYE, BYE BIRDIE! The orchestra strikes the first few notes, the lights dim, the audience settles into hard school chairs; opening night of Car- son ' s production of Bye, Bye Birdie has finally arrived! A love story filled with hilarious situa- tions, Bye Bye Birdie was a great hit. Bye, Bye Birdie is the story of a go- getter musical agent Albert Peterson (Ron Dreyer), his assistant and soon-to-be love Rose Alvarez (Betty Gil), and their Rock and Roll money-maker star Conrad Birdie (Dak Kinser.) Conrad is drafted and the fun begins. Albert searches for the perfect teenager to give Conrad one last kiss on the Ed Sullivan show. Kim Macafee (Annie Nadal) is the lucky girl. Everything should go smoothly, but not in this mixed-up com- edy! The audience was impressed by the quality of the student performances. As in years past, the actors skillfully developed their characters and sang beautifully. Praise also went to orchestra director lames Berk and the student orchestra members. The evening was an unqualified success. Bravo Colts! 1) Kim (Annie Nadal) gazes lovingly into those oh-so-blue eyes of Conrad (Dak Kinser.) 2) (front) Liz Mata, Lisa Cabaldon, Craig Cabal- don, Annie Nadal, Betty Gil, Rhonda Jones (center) Arlene Bocatija, Ed Cavuto, Julie Love- lady, Dak Kinser, Lena Hermosa, Ron Dreyer, (back! September to June, Models (l-r) Gigi Arias, Ron Beltran, and Brandy Bar- erra show fashion trends. Dressed in Colt Casual are (L-R) Vernon Oates, Tom Logan, Melba Salazar, Loreen Smith, and Tom Pickle, and Cesar Delgado. Three ladies with three skirt lengths (L-R) Nicole Kin- ard, Ayako Kumagai, Julie Lovelady. As school opens each September, stores throughout Southern Califor- nia are showing a line of furry fall sweaters and warm coats. The prob- lem is . . . the weather in Carson still feels as hot as mid-July. How to stay in style when the weather ranges from WO to 40 V. Never fear! Carson Colts somehow manage to find fashion for all of Southern California ' s weather. Al- ways aware of the newest trends, Colts can be seen in everything from preppy jeans to the newest mini- skirts. 1983-84 ' s school season brought forth such fashion fads as the light heavy-metal (with chain belts and leather wear), revamped preppy (with striped jeans and ar gyle sweat- ers) and a variety of hair lengths, skirt lengths, and nails from short to oh- soooo long. PERSONAL STYLE is the style that stands out this year. What looks and feels right is 84 ' s dress right. (seated) Lori Young and Rhonda Jones smile while showing fashion variety. Pretty Ayako Kumagai follows fashion leaders with her five-studded ear ring style and page-boy hair.
