SWEETHEART COURT As Valentine ' s Day approaches, everyone grew more excited about the second annual Sweetheart dance. This year students could attend as a Sweetheart couple or as a sin- gle. Colts danced the night away, rocking to the sounds of Soul and New-Wave music provided by a professional D.J. The Sweetheart court was chosen with care: Sa Wilson and Adam Green were the Senior Sweethearts. Leslie Cortez and Char- lie Davis were the Junior Sweethearts. Nicole Conard and Tim Presley were the Sopho- more Sweethearts. 2) Sa Wilson and Adam Green 3) Leslie Cortez and Timothy Presley 214 For Your Sweetheart Memories

CARE ON THE ROAD IS REWARDED The purpose of the Drivers Ed A ward program is to encourage students to take a greater interest in developing good driving habits through their driv- er education courses by recognition of excellent achievements. In recognition of any student who has received TOO o in the Department of Motor Vehicles Road Test, and who has completed a course in Driver Edu- cation classroom and laboratory phase, the Automobile Club of Southern Cali- fornia provides to the school a 9 x 12 walnut plaque with the name of the first student who qualifies for the award. Happily, we have four new students to add to our Plaque. They are: Raul Villabos, Yolanda Kelly, Jolene Smith and Jesse Oani. Congratulations for a job well done! (L to R) Raul Villabos, Yolanda Kelly, (Asst. Principal,) Mr. Gunderson, Jolene Smith and Jesse Oani NISSAN HELPS WHEN NEEDED Most Carson students are un- aware of the quiet work being done by Nissan Corporation ' s Public Relations department. With the help of Janet Leiker, Nissan is actually an active part of the Carson campus. Nissan has adopted Carson as its school and as such, has helped out financially on many projects. Grants of $500.00 were given to the English de- partment (to help buy books for the Pacific Islander Asian American Lit. class) Medi-Colts accepted another grant, and the Health department was able to purchase many important film strips because of Nissan ' s help. Thank you, Nissan!

Proud smiles grace the pretty faces of (l-r) Sabah Safieddine, Latrice Swisher, and Rita Fernandez lunch looks great, girls.
