SLITLIFF, Mlunxn Students of Carson High School will be among the millions of young people who soon find themselves responsible members of a society faced with the realization that we are on the threshold of another great era in the history of mankind. Our young people must recognize that they have a serious responsibility to their fellow man and the nation, a responsibility that can be assumed only if each one goes about his business of education in a mature manner, taking advantage of all the opportunities that are offered daily. Those failing to do so are cheating not only themselves but their nation. Research into the secrets of nature will produce future discoveries more startling than nuclear fission. Eventual triumph of decency and freedom and right will result from the hard work and sacrifice of all citizens. We must be equipped to live in an age of inter-continental ballistic missiles. We must beequipped to meet human problems with wisdom and courage. Students of today will be citizens that this nation will look to for leadership tomorrow, and they must prepare now to assume this duty. C ll P B I wish to extend my congratula- tions to the student body for the ex- cellent spirit of cooperation shown this year. The spirit of unity shown by the student body officers has been most gratifying. If this spirit continues, this should bea banner year for Carson High School. School Stabb and Accountant MRS. The class of 1958 had begun its illustrious career. Tom Thumb's Wedding was performed by our kindergarten class. Gradually we advanced until we had finally moved upstairs to the sixth grade. For the first time, we had departmental work. A Christmas play in which almost all of us had a part was put on. We had two more shows the next year, this time they were of a musical nature. In December The Christmas Story was done, and the following spring we produced A Half Hour with Steven Foster. At the end of our eighth grade year we reached the apex of our dra- matic and musical endeavors with Hansel and Gretel. Soon our freshman year had begun, and we were bowing and singing to the seniors. The initiation closed with the Frosh Hop, and a week later we held our first high school dance, the Senior Return. Our class assembly was held in the spring with songs and skits by several class members. When we were sophomores, our assembly, using a Mississippi River showboat as the background, was given. Our class picnic proved to be disastrous, since we had a slight accident, resulting in a large repair bill and banishment of our class from Bowers' Mansion. The big event of our iunior year was the Junior-Senior Prom. The theme was Hitch Your Wagon to a Star and the multipurpose room was skillfully turned into a celestial ballroom. Soon afterwards we held our picnic at Mexican Dam on the Carson River. At last we became seniors and initiated a new group of lowly frosh. The senior play, Seventeen ls Terrific, was given in December. The history of the class of T958 came to a close with baccalaureate and graduation services when each of us set out to make a new history for himself. M59 BIIIIIV JOHN BA WDEN President 9 I I I .W .
