SUPER TORCHRUNNERSl The 1971 Senior Torchrunners put forth tremendous superhu- man effort and un- matched spirit, as they paced the way to victory after victory during the football season. Al- though they seldom reached a game before halftime, the torchrun- ners unfailingly re- ceived a standing ova- tion from all Patriot fans. The 225 mile run to Ravenna broke all other torchrunner rec- ords for distance, and probably broke the rec- ord for curious police- men per mile. Shirts stenciled by the student government provided identification, and the senior girls provided nourishment to sustain the runners on their journey. Our answer is the world's hopeg it is to rely on youth - not a time of life but a state of mind, a temper of the Will, a quality of the imagination, a predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. The cruelties and obstacles of this swiftly changing planet will not yield to obso- lete dogmas and outvvorn slogans. It cannot be moved by those who cling to a present that is already dying, who prefer the illu- sion of security to the excitement and danger that come with even the most peaceful progress. It is a revolutionary World we live ing and this generation, at home and around the World, has had thrust upon it a greater burden of responsibility than any nation that has ever lived. Robert F. Scheduling classes for the '71-,72 school year placed a heavy demand upon the guidance department and the student himself. The need for each student to fully understand his capabilities and achieve- ment level was recognized as a necessary start. To allow each student a chance to excel in a course he chose, the guidance department set up the lottery system, and met with each student, individually, to plan his courses for the following year. With all the time and concern expended, this year should be a tremendous challenge. 239 Starring: Don Lebkisher as Hawks.
