With the outstanding talents of Kelly McDonald and Dave lraola on the mound, the Carroll ball club finished the season los- ing only two games. Obviously defeat was not prevalent in the minds of the Patriots as they battled at Highland, edging the Scotties with a solo home-run by Kelly McDonald in the tenth in- ning. Other Sluggers, joe Brulotte, Greg McDonald, and Terry Mertens proved their abilities through-out the season. Mr. Dodeward prides himself with the achievement of ten re- turning lettermen. With a large turnout, the IV team opened the 72 season with a lot of ambition. Under their new coach, Mr. Gilman, the team be- gan to take shape. They had a I!! season. They finished with one of the best records for a IV team in Carroll History and took first in their league. Congratulations!

Co-captains Rick Smith, joe Rouleau and Bob Masterman led the track team to a Victorious 1972 season. Rouleau and Masterman both broke school rec- ords, a fine display of the talent ap- parent among the entire team. joe broke the old javelin record with a throw of l80'l1i . Bob surpassed the old mark of 10 seconds in the 100 yd. dash with a time of 9. 9 sec. Masterman also passed up the 200 yd. dash record hitting the tape at 22. 4. Eight of the Patriot trackmen traveled to the district A meet in Goldendale where our 880 relay team CBounds, Parrish, Rouleau and Mastermanb set a new school mark at l34:8. Six members of the team made a commendable achievement by placing 4th at the State meet. Dave Schneider followed his teammates as a recordbreaker in the 220 yd run with a time of 1:59. l taking third place. Firsts were captured by Masterman in the 100 yd. dash and 220 yd. dash and the 880 relay team.
