Mr. Jack Barnette Mr. Doyle Carpenter Dedication The Student Body of CHS is very fortunate to have two such distinguished gentlemen and outstanding administrators at the head of the school. During the past six years, they have dem- onstrated good judgement, fairness, understanding, and a genuine interest in each individual. In deep appreciation, we, the Annual Staff, proudly dedicates the 1969 EAGLET to Mr. Doyle Carpenter, Principal; and Mr. Jack Barnette, Assistant Principal. 12 ADMINISTRATION U. To the Students of Carroll High: As a student with a rich, abundant life still ahead of you, I would remind you to practice the art of “trust”. Trust is one of the most essential ingredients in human relations. Trust is defined as “confident hope.” An atmosphere of trust is as necessary as air or water to human lile. The small encounters of everyday life are easier for someone who trusts the world. To increase our capacity to trust one another, we first need faith in ourselves. Second, trust requires us to be realistic. Finally, trust requires taking a chance. Remember, no great human achievement has ever been achieved or accomplished without trust. If we are to be successful as an individual, a community, a state, or a nation, we must learn to trust. Emerson said, “Trust men and they will be true to you, treat them greatly and they will show themselves greatly.” Mr. Doyle Carpenter, Principal of Carroll High School, graduated from Troy State University with a B.S. Degree. Later he earned His M.Ed. De- gree from Auburn University. 14 Mr. Jack Barnett Assistant Principal B.S. Troy State University M. Ed. The family continues to be the basic universal unit of society and remains the major channel through which culture and values are communicated from one generation to the other. The Home continues to be the setting for the development of human beings and a major force in shaping the lives of people. The Future Farmers of America was originally organiz- ed in 1930. There are approximately forty-three members belonging to this organization. Its primary aim is the de- velopment of agricultural leadership, cooperation, and citizenship. Some of the specific purposes are: (1) to de- velop competent, aggressive, rural, and agricultural leader- ship: (2) to create and mature a love of country, life, and (v) to strengthen the confidence of farm boys and young men in themselves and their work. This aim is sought in Vo- cational Agriculture. C Alice H. Parrish B.S. Auburn University Home Economics Sophomore FHA Hazel S. Wilkinson B.S. University of Alabama M. of Ed. Nancv Ingram: Nov. 2,1953 Sept. 7,1968. Kathy Lewis: Aug. 12,1953 Sept. 7,1968. Just as school got into full swing, three of our most be- loved students were suddenly taken away from us. The why and the how can never he explained, and we can do no more than question. We, the Sophomore Class, would like to dedicate this page in memoriam to our three classmates. Those who knew and loved Nancy knew her as a wonder- ful friend and companion. Her bright smile brought cheer to all. She was a constant joy to her parents and her broth- er. She was dedicated to her church youth group, and was envied by many. To those who were just acquaintances with Nancy, found her friendly in a quiet sort of way, always there to help when help was needed, and we looked up to her. Kathy . . . well, Kathy was a girl who made everyone feel good in another sort of way. Her antics and jokes would make the most serious laugh. Her happy-go-lucky manner and optimistic attitude was especially becoming to her. She was a friend to all, and enemy to none. She was truly a character, and we loved her. Mickey Joe will always be missed. Ilis quiet joke and easy-going manner made us all feel at home to enjoy our- selves whenever we were around him. To his friends, Mickey Joe was one to depend on; he was one to be trusted. He was a wonderful son, friend, and classmate, and we respected him. Friends come and friends go, but these friends .... Nancy, Kathy, and Mickey Joe will always be present in the hearts and minds of us all, for memories are forever locked in the vaults of our minds, to be recalled and enjoyed. But the ache is still there. Mickey Joe Rushing: April 22,1951 • Sept. 7, 1968. Top Row: President, Ronnie Drew; Sec. Treas., Steve Price; Reporter: Patti Sncllgrove, ice-President; Debbie Massey. SENIORS The Senior Class Of 1969 Finally after three years, we have crossed the threshold of our senior year. The first day of school showed promises for a great year. Proud seniors flashed class rings as they ex- ercised their privileges. Excitement increased as the football season opened and we realiz- ed that this was our last season. Senior portraits and graduation cards reminded us and al- ways will remind us of lasting friendships developed at Carroll High School. Suddenly we realized that May was rapidly approaching and we began preparing for graduation. All too soon our wonderful senior year had come to an end.
