One of the oldest organizations at John Carroll is Our Lady's Sodality, the primary object of which is personal sanctification through devotion to Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, imitation of Mary, and works of charity toward the neighbor. Our girls point with pride to the beautiful banner and the new steps for use in the sanctuary, their tribute of affection to our Eucharistic King. At Christmas time, besides the baskets of food which they filled for the poor, the girls also purchased and wrapped individual gifts for the men and women at both St. Vincent's and the Old Ladies' Home. As spring approached the students prepared for the beautiful May Procession, which took place on the first Sunday of May. Though this is primarily an activity of the So- dality, the entire school participated in the outdoor crowning of Our Lady's statue and the consecration of the student body to our Heavenly Queen. The crowning was done by Betty Pata with Mary Louise Gaffney as senior flower girl, and the Act of Consecration was read by Georgie Anne Schreiber in the name of all the children. This was followed by an inspiring sermon from our rector, Monsignor Connor, and the ceremony, a glorious tribute to Christ's holy mother, closed with Solemn Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in Our Lady's Cathedral.
