Admission to the National Honor Society, the highest honor bestowed on john Carroll students, is awarded to those members of the Junior and Senior Classes who have maintained those high levels of schol- arship and character carefully specified in the constitutions of the school's chapter. Despite the fact that the admission requirements of the John Carroll Chapter are among the most severe in America, the intense per- sonal incentive fostered by the school has brought about the present large membership.

Pupils eligible are those whose general average places them among the highest ten per cent of the student body. One complete year's work in the school is counted toward this average: that is, it includes the first semester of the current year and the second semester of the preceding year in the same school. The standing of freshmen is based on the work done during the first semester of the current year.
