Home Ec. Club Hosts Guest Speakers. Home Ec. Club meetings had several special features this year. Guest speakers were Mrs. Bruce Meyer, who gave a talk on dental care, an administrator of the Lo- gansport State Hospital, and a panel of teachers who talked on dating and marriage. Many club members modeled in the Home Ec. Style Show, Dreams That Dazzel Daisies. A dance, St. Patrick's Promenade , was sponsored by Home Ec. Club and F. F.A. in March. Shown below are Mrs. Cora St. Amand and Mrs. Eleanor Milner, sponsors doing their skit about home economics teachers. Officers were S. Reames, Pres.g M. Hood, V. Pres., D. Hodge, Sec., C. Students Work in Qther Musical Groups Swing Band unlike the other two groups, is not a new performing group. This group is made up of volunteers from the band. Groups such as this are now part of many school's curriculum listed as Stage Band. They play various types of music from old stand- ards, to dance band. This vocal ensemble, Swing Chorus, is also new to the Music Department. Students for this group were au- ditioned from the Concert Choir. Their performance consists of Pop Tunes and swinging vocal arrange- ments, This is a new group to Carroll High this year made up of band students. They usually play German Polkas and dress in a comical fashion thus deriving the name Nut Band. 53

F F A Promotes Interest In Farming. Future Farmers of America gives boys who are interested in farming a chance to explore and learn about various areas of farming. Steve Mills, sponsor, and the boys have found field trips to be helpful in their studies. The chapter voted to start a gilt chain and a sow was purchased and given to Gary Yeakley. Gne of the social ac- tivities this year vvas the FFA-FI-IA Dance. Officers this year were M. Flora, presidentg J. Archibald, Vice President, G. Duff, secretary, M. Wagoner, treasurer, H. jones, sentinelg M. Huffer reporter, and S. jordan, Student Council represen- tative.
