Talks were given by local residents who had toured France and other European countries. Mr . Eldon Pressler gave an interesting program on European countries and showed films of France and gave a background of French life. The picture at the right is showing first year members trying their hand at being Can-Can Girls at one of the meet- ings . The club plans to use some of their profit to purchase a Cassell's French- English Dictionary, a new subscription to Paris Match , and several French rec- ords . 5l

Students Work in Qther Musical Groups Swing Band unlike the other two groups, is not a new performing group. This group is made up of volunteers from the band. Groups such as this are now part of many school's curriculum listed as Stage Band. They play various types of music from old stand- ards, to dance band. This vocal ensemble, Swing Chorus, is also new to the Music Department. Students for this group were au- ditioned from the Concert Choir. Their performance consists of Pop Tunes and swinging vocal arrange- ments, This is a new group to Carroll High this year made up of band students. They usually play German Polkas and dress in a comical fashion thus deriving the name Nut Band. 53
