Corpus Christi's fourth senior high school was dedicated October 'l to Miss Mary Carroll, former teacher, principal and superintendent of Corpus Christi Public Schools. Carroll High Band made itsfirst appearance at the dedication More than 800 guests at the dedi- cation ceremonies heard 'Miss Mary accept the honors bestowed upon her. Glancing about the new Sl,750,000 high school, Miss Carroll honored the teachers 'and all other members on the team' who taught and worked with her from l9Ol-l933. Then she gave her dedication of Carroll High School: 'That the teachers find their work here rewarding, the pu- pils find their studies soul-satisfying, and the building be a functioning unit ofthe school system 50 years from now.' Miss Carroll's advice to students of yesteryears as well as those of to- day is expressed in her favorite quo- tation: 'Ships sail east and ships sail west, By the selfsame winds that blow. lt's the set of the sail, And not the gale, That determines the way to go.
