'?'??fl?9?f7efT!'?W?' -stfitfh 2' football iersies l This editorial by Joe Scherer in his Good Evening Column in The Caller-Times relates the attitude aboutthe Tiger football season held by most people in Corpus Christi THE GREATEST TEAM IN TOWN A 'Miller-Roy-Carroll Fan' who desires to remain anonymous, sends this letter: ul have seen all ofthe great teams produced by Bill Stages and his staff at Ray-as well as some mighty fine teams at Miller, particularly those Whiz Kids led by the incomparable Larry Duem. 'They were all good teams-fine teams. 'But Corpus Christi, nor for that matter any other city, has ever had a GREATER team than those two dozen kids now playmj for Mary Carroil. 'No Seniors. No lcttervnen. No niusclernen. And no chance to win. A skinny bunch of kids hardly powerful enough to hold their own in Class B competition-and yet thrown into a schedule against the tough AA outfits. ln the four games I have witnessed Mary Carroll hosn't shown a thing-except cold raw managers had courage' 'But those kids have Jot it-the stuff MEN are made af. I've seen Jim Thorp in action, as well as Grange, George Gipp, Dori Hutson, Sid Luckman and other football greats. 'But ask me what was the greatest teaml ever saw in action and l'll tell you reol quick- 'The Mary Carroll team of l957.' ,ggi g , , . off T 1' ix 4' rAfRIg HSRNANDEZ WlLI3IAM WILKES e Y uur Rig 1 End Junior Wt. l45 Sophomore Wt. 145 Lettered Lettered JOHN HARDIN SAM LONGORlA JOHNNY BOYD Left Tackle Left End Right End Junior Wt.
