The wilderness trek provided new students with a chance to meet some of the people with whom they would be spending the next four years at Carroll. It wasn’t a Spartan survival-of-the-fittcst exercise, though, as it was planned as a fairly leisurely excursion to promote school spirit. Pack mules carried supplies. Dr. Kerins Dean Roberts survey the happy hikers. The hikers slosh along the chosen route. 50 .. .and just .shooiin' the breeze. It speaks to a spirit that binds Carroll together. It is another of the events during the first weeks to bind Freshmen and upperclassmen together to maintain Carroll unity. One finds himself lounging in hopes that Saint Advisor soon will be there. Hurry up. now wait Judging was Olympic-Game with broken eggs scoring low!! The day dawned bright for Father Hiiicn's much-acclaimed and anticipated Eggcl Kncggel egg destruction derby. For weeks his design class struggled to concoct the perfect egg vehicle that would withstand a deathly plunge from the balcony in front of St. Charles Hall. And for weeks the rest of the campus passed by their wondrous advertising posters, pondering the meaning of this mysterious ‘Eggel Kncggel’ feat. But at last they came forward in their glorious costumes to put on an enjoyable diversion from hum-drum classes. Egg-ccllcnt idea. Father! The crowd gathered from all areas. Two students became medics-for-a-day to carry off the fractured yolks!! The trcachorous balcony received the fancy packages of eggs via the death basket. 57 ACTIVITY NO. 1 EATS The bread and water of life is central to all Catholics. SPOKANE SYMPHONY 73 CHOIR HALLOWEEN STARTS AT SAGA. . . Halloween is that spooky time of the year that comes to Carroll College with a bang. This chilly evening was started off by a costume contest at Saga amid those ghoulish treats set out by our cooks. But the fun comes in trying to function in semi-darkness: you pick your food almost sight-unseen, grope around for a table, and watch the crazy parade around you. Most of the conversation revolcs around “Who's that at the milk machine? A chained sheet and Aunt Jemima!! The devil’s wicked smile doesn't seem to be charming Janet! Saga workers entered in costumes, so ice cream was served by Mary in her (oh. no!) underwear!! These three Raggedy Ann’s seem like they arc up too something... What? And here’s Trish the clown, innocently eating ice cream, when.., She’s accosted by two spooks!!! And no one offered her help—only their laughs!! 75 . .
