Last Sumner we were looking forward to September when we would be the ubig whee1 seniors. September has now come and gone and 1956-57 has turned out to be the happiest year of our lives - and the shortest. It was a year of anticipation and one of rememberingg a year when wonderful new friendships were made and old ones strengthened. How fast the days flew! There was much excitement and little boredomg vast expenditures of money and great diffi- culty in getting it. We Will Never Forget Coach Zahniser l It's easy to be ordinary, but it takes tremendous desire and effort to excel. This quotation expresses the philosophy and pattern of life of our late coach, Ralph Zahniser, the dearly beloved Zahny , who thought character far more important than victory on the playing field. The following pages picture the last Carrick team to play under the guidance of the Father of the Triadic , the last squad to train under this ardent teacher of character and fairplay. They, as well as the entire student body, will always remember the great Zahniser spirit. Mr. Zahniser, a gentleman in de- mand as a speaker, was loved for his sincerity. We will never forget his moving speeches at our assemblies and banquets. Zahny , the friend, loved his boys , teaching them to play sports cleanly and courageously, praising them in victory, cheering them in defeat Ralph Zahniser, the sculptor, was noted for his talented works, gaining particular recognition for his sport figures. Zahny spent many hours modeling figures of relatives and friends.
