This chorus, under the direction of Mr. Mcllroy, has proved to be a very great success. Mixed chorus work at Carrick was an unimportant phase of music until September of 1931, when the present chorus was organized. The group boasts of a membership of over fifty talented students. The chorus holds daily meetings which are given over to the development of the voice and to the ac- quisition of musical knowledge. Compositions of merit are studied by the group and radio presenta' tions are often analyzed. At Christmas time the chorus presented a musical program in the school assembly. Several Christmas numbers were rendered with remarkable skill and evident talent. This year seventeen of the members of the chorus were admitted to the ranks of the AllfCity Chorus, which was organized recently and is under the direction of Dr. Will Earhart, head of the Music Department of the Pittsburgh Public Schools. The members admitted were chosen because of their ability and obvious interest in choral work. The chorus has been organized as a regular class, and those taking the course receive a regular class credit. With such a favorable beginning Carrick's chorus is sure to succeed and some day all of its members will be listed as members of the All-City Chorus.
