Miss Jenny ... Miss Virginia ... Miss First Grade. What can you say about a teacher who has touched the lives of almost everyone in the town of Carrabelle? England had its Mr. Chips; we have our Miss Clower. It’s hard to imagine that anyone can stay so sweet and pleasant after thirty-eight years of first graders. But she’s always smiling, always understanding, always the first to say a kind word. How many little bruised knees have you had to bandage? How many little hurt feelings have you had to kiss away? How many times have you turned tears to smiles and made a brighter day in someone’s life? We love you, Miss Clower. Thank you for giving us so much of yourself. 2 HIGH SCHOOL Oetn. ... John and Judy Humble ... Mr. and Mrs. ... They’ve only been here four and five years, but we’ve come to know them as a team who love to work with students, always taking us where they find us and helping us along. When we need help in math we can go to Mrs. Humble; when we need help in social studies, we can go to Mr. Humble, and both of them will always be willing to help us learn. They expect the best, but they still have compassion. They make as better people than we were before we knew them. We’re proud to have had you as part of our lives, Mr. and Mrs. Humble. Thank you for sharing yours with us. 3 HOMECOMING QUEEN Miss Linda Tindell MR. AND MI89 C.H.8. Williamson Miss Michelle Simmons Sweetheart Miss Monica Mathes Escort: J. Tarantino Always live your life as if someone were watching everything you do and think; live not fertively, but openly and honestly. If you want to do something for which you would be ashamed, don’ll begrudge the world for your position, but rather discard the thought; don't hide from it, but replace it. Rise above it. Any thought you have the power to dream or desire, you also have the power to dispell. Your mind is a kingdom and an infinity. You have the control to know and do anything you desire ... so desire the best, the highest, the finest ... and then pursue it, and it will be yours. ■1 Never become angered at a man for doing what he has to do or what he thinks is right. If he is right and it angers you, then you are probably wrong. If he is wrong and it angers you, then you waste your energy and emotions which could be used in happier emotions than anger. Besides... you can dislike the dream and still love the dreamer. Never try to hold on to another person when he feels the need for other friends. Jealousy can kill a friendship — or a love — faster than an unkind word. If you must hold on to those you love, hold on with trust, understanding, and freedom. If they are not free to be themselves, they will resent you even though they hide it. Love is not real when it demands another to be what he does not want to be. If someone you love chooses someone else, wish him well and be happy for him. You cannot force another to love you, and to try takes great amounts of energy and saps the soul. You will not be alone or lonely. There are others who love you just as you are. Let them into your life, and you will not miss the one you are setting free. Never try to demand respect. True respect can never be demanded; it has to be earned. Another may pretend to respect or love you, but if he does not do so willingly, then you possess an empty honor, and you are only fooling yourself. Remember there is no time you can live but the present. You can prepare for the future, but you cannot live it. You can learn from the past, but you cannot stay there. If you do not make the most of every present moment, then you are wasting one of the most limited commodities you have ... time. Don’t plan for happiness in the future unless you can be now. You cannot force others to think and feel as you do. Respect the individuality of others as you would have them respect yours. Be patient with opposing opinions. If your own opinion cannot withstand close scrutiny, perhaps it has a flaw, and you should discard it. if another’s opinion is defended loudly or too strongly, perhaps he needs that thought to support him at the time. Do not take away his support. If it is strong and right, we have not the right to deprive him of it. If it is mistaken he will give it up when he no longer needs it. 126 A loud voice is the last resort of a weak arguement. If your point is not taken through rational discussion, it will not be taken through force. No man likes to be proven wrong. Do not argue with someone you know to be wrong, but if you do, make sure you give him a way to save face. Present your ideas as yours, listen to his, and then wait for him to discover his own error. Being a gracious winner is sometimes harder than being a good loser. Some of the world's greatest victories are never spoken of by the victor. There is little to be gained by resentment, revenge, or bitterness. Such emotions do you more harm than they do those toward whom you project them, and such feelings indicate that you are living more in the past than in the present. Do not feel inferior to any man. But also do not allow yourself to feel that you are better than others. You are completely unique In eternity and infinity. Know that you are a worthy person; there is only one you, and you have dominion over all that you survey. Use your dominion wisely, and not only will you be happy, but you will make the world a better place. remember that making the world a better place is your reason for being. If, when you cease to exist, the world is not a better place because of your existence, then you have not lived your life to the fullest. Live your life so that everyone you meet will be able to say, “I am a better person for having known him.
