Miss Howell has been teaching at Carrabelle High School for the last 6V2 years. She has been a good teacher as well as a good friend to all her students. She pushes them on to better themselves. Her motto is, “You can do anything if you put your mind to it and try harder.” She is friendly to everyone and respected by all her students. We are proud to have someone like Miss Howell on our faculty and proud to have someone like her to whom we can dedicate this issue of the FLAME. 2 ACTIVITIES NEATEST Ronnie Vinson Gwen Moore FRIENDLIEST Kathy Barber Steve May MOST ATHLETIC Danny Millender Cindy Smith WITTIEST Debbie Wood Stan Smith s E N I O R MOST STUDIOUS Joel Rives Karen Chambers BIGGEST FLIRTS Jerry Martina Sandra O’Neal MOST AMBITIOUS Dottie Simon • Roger Mathis MOST SCHOLASTIC Karen Brown Mike McCray LEADERSHIP Joe Decker Jackie Burda CUTEST Mike Hitt Mary Taylor MOST POPULAR Mickey Johnson Kathy Barber BEST FIGURE PHYSIQUE Gwen Moore Gary Martina V V CLASS CLOWNS Chuck Steinberg Mary Taylor MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED Joel Rives Jackie Burda Editor's Message During the many years in high school, we try to learn how to become young ladies and gentlemen and get ready for the adult world. It’s hard for students just to sit in class everyday and listen to the teacher lecture, especially the younger children. That’s what they are here for. They want to help us learn something and also want us to make something of ourselves after we get out of school. When we graduate from high school, they want to make sure that we know what we’re doing. Life if full of happiness, but also it’s full of bitterness. We feel that happiness is important to everyone in the world. The habits that we form in school and from our friends will be with us for the rest of our lives. Soon many of us will be leaving C.H.S. and going in different directions. We will be leaving our activities, teachers, classrooms, but most of all we will be leaving our friends. We hope that this year’s edition of the 1974-75 Flame will help recall the wonderful memories that we will be leaving behind. We also want to wish each and everyone here at C.H.S. the best of luck in the future. Sincerely, Kathy Barber Stephanie Shiver Editor Assistant Editor Delores Boatwright Business Manager 6 MR. Many people don’t realize just how much Mrs. Larsen does in our school, but it would not be overestimating her value to say that without her presence, Carrabelle High would not have gone along as well as it has for the past 25 years. The class of 1975 is pleased to have among its graduates, Mrs. Larsen — even if it did take her 25 years to make it. The best of luck to you in the coming years, Mi s. Larsen. We know your leaving will be a great loss to the school, but after all the hard times we’ve given you, you’re entitled to all the rest and relaxation you can get. We hope you enjoy the years ahead as much as we enjoyed and appreciated having you a part of our school. 41 English Mack Mangham Senior High English Terry Lewis Junior High English Mikel Clark Sr. High Social Studies Richard Kennedy Jr. High Social Studies Social Studies Jerry Runkle Jr. and Sr. High Math Math Gayle Kennedy Senior High Math 42 Science Walter Bryant Junior High Science Neal Berger Senior High Science Leland McCray Vocational Agriculture Karen Costopolous Typing-V.O.E. Annual Staff to thank Steve May for all the work he did in helping with photographs — but what are all those kids doing in my sand pile? 75 1975 Class Prophesy In the year 1985 Karen Brown and Jackie Burda volunteered to take us on a world tour to visit our fellow classmates of’75. Karen and Jackie have had much experience in traveling in their nine years of professional bumming. Now Jackie is doing fine with her Locker Interior Decorating business. Karen B.’s favorite hobby (floor sitting) will be disturbed by a very busy year — she has just been crowned Miss Universe. Roger Mathis is still trying to get his car running. (Poor Toni is still walking to the grocery store with Jr. on her back.) Eastpoint has its own “Pied Piper” — Mack Novak sings his fish into the boat. Matt Feldt is making it big in Carrabelle, but Buckeye has gone bankrupt paying for new transmissions in the trucks he drives. Steve May is a nature photographer. He takes sneak shots of BUNNIES for Playboy. Since Karen Chambers failed Physics she decided to take up housekeeping and has the cleanest swept house around. Mark Ellis has fulfilled his life time ambition; he is a Fix Base Operator. Chuck Steinberg made a great sale on one of his paintings and is now bumming around. The former Debbie Wood has a full time nursing career. When not assisting Dr. J. A. Murray, she is kept busy bandaging scraped knees and sprained ankles of the Carter kids. Dr. Murray, however, finds time to cruise around, play a game of tennis and is still trying to learn to play golf. Mike Moehrke is the big tycoon, his major business being: M M Games, Inc. On the side he is the manager of the Jackson 5. Sandra O’Neal is very busy with Rickey and their 5 little harons. She really has a problem for they all have her funny giggles. Tom Wooten has designed a new Anneewakee Lodge. Dr. Joseph Dale Decker is doing very well as a psychologist. He is now seeing Joel Rives who just recently won the Nobel Prize for Physics. Evan Schenkle is really cool as a refrigerator repairman. Next we find Gwen Moore back at good ’ole CHS teaching Mrs. Elaine Millender’s kids to type. Her kids, Alaina, Barry, Cliff, David and Elly, are typing 95 words per minute. While the kids are typing, Elaine is sweeping the beach. Dottie Simon, not knowing what she wants to do with her life, is really living it up. She makes every moment count. Glenda Cain is busy cleaning her twenty-four room mansion on the east side of Eastpoint. Glenda told us that Delinda is riding the waves with the Navy. Cindy Smith has become a professional actor, specializing in cowboy and Indian plays. (Her past experience during fourth period helped a lot.) Marshall Youngblood is now successfully pursuing his career as a bull fighter. Ronald Messer is a professional Mexican guitar teacher, and Ronnie Vinson is teaching Ronald Messer’s students to sing Mexican music. Gina and Garry Millender are still living at the Tower Site. Their kids keep Garry busy spottingt icir own fires. Mike McCray is keeping the books for his farm. Jerry and Gary Martina jointly own the Sumatra Outboard Marine Center. Mickey Johnson was just elected “The All Around Good Guy” to represent all the Pro Basketball players. Bill Miller is still going to school to earn that half credit in Coach Clark’s class. Danny Millender is now Mr. America and doing many toothpaste commercials. As we enter the library, the Librarian, Ms. Roxie Reynolds, lets out a big, “Shhhhh!” (We always were a talkative group.) Stan Smith’s newspaper is coming along slowly, but his trustworthy assistant editor, Ms. Kathy Barber, is standing by his side. Dale Addington is still workingto improve his physique. David Tibbets is very patriotic ... a red neck policeman in his little blue VW. Mike Hitt is still getting lots of laughs as a nation-wide cartoonist. Vernon Thompson has improved the efficiency of the Carrabelle Water Works greatly. Perry Clark is Carrabelle’s new “Motorcycle Playboy”. The former Elaine Braswell and John are getting along fine with their short basketball team. Tinker Corley and Jo-Alice now reside at the “Corley Mansion” on Highway 65. Tinker is doing fine as an Executive Accountant, thanks to Miss Costopoulos. We heard Bill Daniels and George Adams were making it big with their Oyster Industry, but we were unable to see them. George has finally learned how to put the steering the a boat correctly. Wayne Cooper is now teaching Advanced Marine Mechanics at CHS. He tells us he has some students even more “interesting” than George was. Willie Stropkin has returned to the Lone Star state to practice medicine. Our tour is now concluded. It’s surprising to see the changes that have come over everyone, although they seem to be up to many of their old tricks. 76 1975 Class Will I, George Adams, will my ability to get along with the bus driver to Timmy and my ability to get along with the teachers to David.
